What took me so long to come here!! Family owned - upon entering you feel welcomed and the aroma of food . Had the fish fry... dinner - was spot on delicious !! The soups are absolutely divine - from their cream of Vandalia, clam chowder and wild mushroom, everything I've had has been so... savory and perfectly seasoned. The roasted veggie focaccia is my favorite go-to. Everything is ready for pick up immediatelyafter ordering. I definitely recommend! Read more
I'm not one to gush about anything, but I'm gonna gush about the walleye fish fry we had tonight. This was the best fish fry of... my life. The fish was excellent and the light breading was perfect. The roasted potatoes and coleslaw equaled the fish. Tilltonight I've only raved about one other restaurant in my life, Thai town in south Elgin. We're lucky to have restaurants ofthis quality in our area. We'll be back ! Read more
Chef Gene is a genius. The hand crafted sandwiches and homemade soups are fantastic. The portions are usually too much for one... sitting which is fine with me because they are still delicious the next day. He smokes his own meats too which make for anincredible BBQ pulled pork sandwich.Treat yourself, you will not be sorry. ***Add - on*** After many years of eating here all Ican say it?s it still top notch. This is a nice local diner that also does catering here in Elgin. I tried them a couple years ago for the fried fish that I had... read good reviews about, and it was very good! I just tried them again last week for lunch takeout for my wife and me. Wegot the BLT, the Cuban and the Caesar salad. They were prepared well and came with all fresh fixins.
