Portillo's has always been a place of high quality food. Pasta: love it, hot dogs: awesome, burgers: excellent, etc. However,... the onion rings are a complete scam. Why a "scam" you say? Because, once you get past the incredibly crunchy outside, the onionis paper thin. Maybe even less than paper thin. Onion rings have always been one of my favorites and I've had plenty so think Ihave a reasonably good idea of a quality onion ring when I see it. I've had Portillo's onion rings many times and it's alwaysthe same see through onion. If you don't mind spending your cash on, what I call, onion-flavored-bread-crumb-rings, go forit. If you've got a taste for real onion rings, may I respectfully suggest Popeyes at rt 64 & 59. Yeah, I get the family sizefor myself, so what. They are awesome. Most Popeyes don't make them so enjoy them while you can. Portillo's has many good foodoptions, onion rings are not one of them. Read more

All Portillos restaurants are pretty standard nowadays. They still can throw down. The Burgers are always on point. Sometimes... they can be a little on the warm side, but overall, still pretty good. The bar area here is similar to all the rest, they alwaysgotta get a manager to pour the beer but the wait is really short. The frosty glasses are unique to Portillos, averaging between15-16 ounces. The decor is nice, lots of old antiques and stuff, lots of neon. An older Portillos employee stopped at our tableand had a nice conversation with us, asked how everything was, and this made us feel good deep down inside our souls. Shout outto that guy. Good experience overall. Definitely stop by, and don?t wait in the drive thru lanes, that?s just straight crazy.Thumbs up. ???????? Read more
If you live in the chicago area, surely you?ve heard of portillos. I?ll be honest, when I moved here 7 years ago, I didn?t get... the hype. I mean the drive thru was always crazy long, the Italian beef was good and all but not anything to write home about.The chicago dogs were good with a nice snap to them but hey I could find that at a handful of other places. For me, it seemedlike the longer I lived in chicago, the mote I enjoyed portillos. And THEN I tried the chocolate cake. That was the moment whenI BELIEVED THE HYPE!! Head in there and enjoy a nice meal and end it with the best cake in Chicagoland. Read more
Portillo?s is always a hit. Great cheeseburgers, hotdogs, fries and shakes. An instant classic. There?s a reason the drive... through is always packed 24/7. This location is always clean and has a nice friendly staff, the food always hits the spot. Iwould definitely recommend getting a strawberry or chocolate cake shake with whatever you order. Read more
