This was the best meal of our entire honeymoon and perhaps it might be the best meal of our entire lives. Everything about... Provender was perfect! The food, the atmosphere, and the service were top notch! We ordered the bison tartare for an appetizer,and the pesto chicken and steak dishes for our entrees and ended the evening with lemon meringue. All of our dishes wereperfectly balanced and you could taste the love and care in every bite! We were able to meet the chef, Daron and thank him inperson for the meal! Just so you know, in order to eat here you need to book an online reservation that would take a deposit tohold your spot. After your meal you will be refunded your deposit! Provender has been my favorite restaurant in Downeast Maine since 2018, when I made my first visit. It's always a wonderful menu... with gluten-free options and great cocktails! Darren & Joy have a fantastic restaurant for locals, visitors and specialoccasions. I can't give enough stars! Read more
We have been to Provender a couple of times now but last night was special. They hosted a reservation only Pre Fixe Valentine's... Day dinner which was so delicious. It was such a great experience. Went out to celebrate my birthday while visiting the area. Got to meet one of the owners and hear a bit of her story. Super... friendly folks and an awesome menu, not a bad bite in the bunch. The Pink Lady cocktail was unique and very tasty (on thesweeter side, but not cloying.) Got the steak tartare, chicken liver mousse, Iberico pork belly, Scallops, and the NY Strip,plus the cheesecake and creme brulee for dessert. In a geography rich in natural beauty and splendor, we found no culinary experience to match its wonder. And then we found... Provender. The short menu had a myriad of inventive possibilities to explore. Service was impeccable from the beginning. Wewalked in and the staff made sure to find us accommodations with little wait time. Though we opted to dine outdoors, the indoorambience was welcoming. First course of Maine mussels was bursting with flavor from wholesome and simple ingredients. Secondcourse was equally delightful. We couldn’t contain how refreshing and delicious everything was and were treated to a visit bythe chef. Their food spoke volumes, but their down-to-earth passion about food became ever more evident. We immediately madefuture reservations before we leave the region. Wherever you are in the Bar Harbor area, plan ahead, make reservations and lookforward to having one of the most pleasurable meals of your life. Read more
Sirloin steak was excellent. As were the Brussels sprouts and octopus appetizers. I appreciated the bartender’s quick service.... Perhaps the bar stools could be positioned for tall people (over 6 feet)? Had to manspread at first before angling to my wifewhich was fine actually. So maybe there is logic involved with the bar seats. That didn’t matter though, we enjoyed our dinnerand thank the establishment for their service and food. Read more
