This place is ???? My bf and I had a huge lunch but wanted something light for dinner so we found ourselves at Kai Ola. The... energy of this place is fun, energetic yet chill. We’re from nyc and not used to seeing patrons and staff having fun? Weordered some daily specials - split the Spanish toro nigiri (melt in your mouth good), Kampachi nigiri (delicate and tasty),Hokkaido scallop sashimi app (order this and you will lot be disappointed in the glory of the scallop and their creamy sauce)and seaweed salad. Dined in with my lady and ordered edamame, shishito peppers, calamari, tempura veggies, miso soup, and their blue fin... sashimi. Their prices are pretty high which is not a big deal. We were actually excited by them thinking the quality was goingto be very good… but that wasn’t the case. They served us a portion of 5 small shishito peppers and very small pieces ofsoggy edamame. And a few pieces of small tempura veggies. The portions were comical for the price we paid! I couldn’t believeit. The bowl for the miso soup was grimy. The outside had something caked onto it. They also served me the wrong beer. Ourwater cups had pieces of something floating in them. The blue fin sashimi and calamari were pretty good. Great atmosphere and great sushi!!! The Tuna poke bowl is my favorite thing on the menu. The fresh fish and ingredients make for... an amazing Poke bowl. We came here 3 times on our 4 day trip! Highly recommend. Read more
Food was good, but the service was lacking. Server was rude and generally unattentive. He forgot my beverage...being the only... person who actually ordered a non-alcoholic beverage at our table I kinda let it slide, but his indifference didn't change untilour friends who are locals let the manager know. We tried our best to be as respectful as possible even though our server actedlike he didn't want to do his job. Read more
This place is usually good, but something has happened recently and the restaurant is suffering as a result. The most glaring... issue is the lack of staff. Long waits, and the sushi quality has declined. When there is only one cook it’s hard to put theeffort into the food. I think they can rebound but they need more staff, hopefully they can find some. Unless their prices comedown, or the service/quality goes up, I would go elsewhere. Read more
Stopped by to have some good sushi and sashimi. Good service. The spicy tuna was a bit off but everything else was good.
Great spot to chill and they have a great food. You might ask what's with the 2 star then? Well it's the servers, they are quite... unprofessional and very cold to the customers. I believe that when eating out, the customer and the business must show respectwith another there's this line in the middle that as a consumer and business owner that you need to meet. On my visit hereyesterday, we didn't get to experience that. My wife and I felt the service was rushed and without consideration. Although thefood is good, the whole reason of going out is the experience and since we didn't have a good experience then that wouldsupercedes the fact that they have good food. Yesterday would be our last visit and will never coming back here again. We wouldalso not recommend this to our friends. Read more
