We finally made it over to the Red Onion on Sunday. We got there around 3:30 there were not that many people when we arrived, by... the time we were leaving they we very busy. Great service and atmosphere. The bread with the strawberry butter is delicious. Weordered the Mini Crab Cakes appetizer, they were perfectly cooked, very tasty. The butterfly shrimp were nice sized and niceportions. The salad was average but the in house made ranch was delicious. The fries were average. My husband ordered theribeye, which I had to try based on his reaction, it was absolutely melt in your mouth, it was cooked and seasoned perfectly.Amazing ! Definitely looking forward to our next visit and I will be getting the ribeye. Read more

Traveling to Equality for Sunday lunch at The Red Onion was definitely worth the drive. The menu is considered "home style", you... can order one meat and up to three sides. Lots of variety, we both opted for the fried chicken. Simply put - the food wasdelicious. There is no skimping on the sides and the fresh bread is awesome. We visited Sun August 1st. They were busy but we expected that and it only took about 20 minutes for a table. Party of 5. A note... here,, they don't serve their full menu on Sunday's. Its not advertised they have a condensed "Sunday" menu. You have a choiceof 1 meat and 3 sides. Still some good options and desserts to choose from but just not the full menu we expected. We came about2 hrs before closing time and they were already out of a couple sides. Our experience was still good but not what we wereexpecting or looking forward to. Our server did a pretty good job. The food we were served was very good. Everything had a greatgreat taste. It was like Grandmother was back there in the kitchen kinda taste. We definitely will return to try the full menuanother day as they have some pretty good options on the full menu. Over all a good experience. Read more
This is a popular restaurant in Southern Illinois, plan on waiting to be seated. I ordered Surf and Turf, steak was tender and... served with lobster. Would definitely order again. Be sure and save room for pie...delicious. Wonderful waitress, polite andfriendly. Great service! Read more
