The absolute best stuffed poblamo chilis. I drove 15 miles through hazardous traffic with untold road hazards to get 2 of those... babies, drenched in a green tomatillo salsa...I judge all of the Mexican restaurants that I eat at by the quality, freshness andhomemade taste of their chili rellenos. This place has the best I've found anywhere in the greater San Diego area, and I've beento many fine places over the years. Check this place out...it is the finest available. Read more

This was the best little restaurant ! We were driving through town and found it, and boy are we glad we did! What a great deal... on such quality food! We got chips and salsa for free while we read through the menu. We got the cilantro lime chicken salad, and oh my goodness it was good! It was also huge. Read more

We first walked in, took maybe 20 minutes to get a table (Wednesday Night around 6 pm). We started off with a pitcher of... Margarita. Then we ordered the Fresca Carne Asada Burrito (10/10), Cenote Burrito (had beans and rice but 6/10) and 2Cheesesteak Burrito (7/10). Also got queso dip for an app, it was actually pretty good and 2 bowls of Poblano soup, super goodas well. The food is an 11/10 but the kitchen just looks like a mess, I just watched The Bear on Hulu, the back of housecraziness in that show reminded me of Cenote Grill. Read more

Food was really good. Not a sit down restaurant in the traditional sense as you go to the counter to order. All in all a great... little place. Read more

Cenote Grill is one of those hidden gems in San Marcos Escondido area. All the food I have had there is delicious. But by far... the Creamy Poblano soup s worth going. Today I had the Al Pastor Tacos with rice and beans on the side. Sonora enchiladas wasvery good. The appetizers hit the spot. Next time your in the area definitely go to Cenote Grill. Read more

My husband and I decided to try this place after reading the reviews, and a recommendation from a friend. It's a small... restaurant with some outdoor seating and a few booths and tables. There are no waiters or waitresses to take your order. When wewalked in and approached the front counter we were given menus and instructed to come back to the counter when we were ready toorder. They brought us chips and two kinds of salsa. They were both good, but the chips were a bit on the thick side. I orderedthe two item combination plate of the pork chili Relleno and the fish taco with Mexican rice and pinto beans. This is the firsttime for both of us trying this kind of chili Relleno. It is baked instead of fried. It was pretty good, but I guess we justprefer the traditional fried and stuffed with jack cheese type. I didn't care for the rice. It was just too heavy with thespice's for me, not in a hot spice way but just too overpowering. The beans were okay, but again we prefer the traditionalrefried beans. I don't think we will be back. Service was good! Read more

This place has the best chili relleno I know of. Large poblanos chili stuffed with your choice of carne asada, chicken, carnitas... or vegetables. It is also stuffed with cheese, tomatoes and hominy and served with a mild verde chili relleno sauce. It isroasted, not batter dipped and fried and more meet and veggies than cheese. Absolutely amazing! I don't know how the rest oftheir food is. I always order the same thing. ???? Read more
