Casual dining in the historical town of Essex, CT. A little cramped on our last visit, but service and food were top of the... line. I ordered an appetizer for my dinner, the blackened scallops, which were fresh and flavorful. Always enjoy a meal at theBlack Seal! ???? Read more

Hubby ordered their Burger and it was 5 star since I had to take a bite. I ordered the grill cheese sandwich. Hadn't had one... in like 2 years. Succulent! Love the bar and got their before the lunch crowd during the week so it wasn't mobbed. Ourdefinite little 45 min drive to this cozy village spot that serves delicious food and the menu is simple. My friend & I are we’re looking for a place to eat and stumbled upon this jewel. We were a little hesitant but we were hungry!... ???? So we went in as soon as we walked in we were greeted. We were then seated quickly. Our waitress was extremely sweet &kind. Our food was sooooo good. Overall we would recommend this place to anyone look for some good food & a good atmosphere. Notto mention all the decorations inside super cute, it has a cozy small town feel. And after you eat and you need all thatgoodness to settle just a walk in the neighborhood it’s very adorable. Food was very good. Fried calamari was excellent also. Two different sauces provided was a nice touch. We will definitely eat... there again. Only negative for me is the smaller dining space with a pretty loud bar area. Read more

It was crowded and kind of an old dive style place. I prefer darker lighting and louder music but otherwise not a bad place. I... had the Red Snapper with mash and asparagus, it was pretty good. My friend had the tenderloin and said it was excellent! For awealthy town I was surprised when my draft toasted lager was only $6, not bad. Our meals were between like $25 and $35 and theywere served up pretty quick, nice place! Read more
