We had dinner after shopping. Got the taste of Hacienda it was great. Everything from here is outstanding. The bean dip with... the white cheese is one of my favorite things to eat. If you haven't been here definitely try it out. Read more

Good news first: I liked the overall vibe of the place and the waitress was very nice. Everything decent about this place stops... there though. We just drove up from Texas and stopped for a quick bite to eat. I will admit my expectations were not high but Iwas floored with how inauthentic and bland the food was. Looking at the menu and seeing "mozzarella sticks" and "sandwiches" wasthe first red flag. Once the "salsa" came out it was over. It tastes like bargain brand tomato soup. No spices, onion, cilantro,or jalapeno. Nothing. I struggle to understand how you can claim that as salsa. I believe that effort is skipped in this regardsince you can't charge for salsa so expenses are kept to an absolute minimum. The main entree was a wet burrito that had theprominent taste of rosemary over all else. Not what you should expect from Mexican food. I'm glad most reviewers seem to enjoythe unique taste of this establishment but to call it a Mexican restaurant is a gross misstep at best and an insult at worst. Read more

The owners need to take a serious look at their reviews. Or take a trip to Texas for some quality Tex-Mex. The salsa was just as... everyone is saying, for over a year at least - tasted like cold tomato paste. We weren't given waters. The actual entree wasdecent and the chips were fine. The drinks were okay. My guess is the owner gets the cheapest "salsa" they can find, since it'sgiven out free. We won't be returning as we are just passing through, but this is just a review to urge the management to listento their customers. Read more

Update on Hacienda. I know I said at the end of the first review that we would not be back, but we went back and much to our... chagrin. Although I ordered what seemed to be a new item on the menu a Quesoburria. It is 3 small street taco shells fried likea Quesadilla with shredded beef and cheese. There was not a lot of either in any of the 3 shells, but it was very good. It comeswith dipping sauce and it was very tasty. I don't know how to describe it. My wife ordered a fish taco which was disgraceful. There was no more than a tablespoon of fish, not exaggerating, that they smashed and tried to spread the length of the tacoshell, and they didn't quite make it. It was really Embarrassing for them. They then proceeded to fill the shell up with lettuceand some cheese. We have indeed gone to Hacienda for the last time. They did however let us sample some new salsas that theyhave out, instead of the, what I call, Mexican ketchup that they've used for 40 years, they had a chunky salsa and a green spicyhot salsa, both were very good. End of update. My wife and I started going to Hacienda on 1st. Ave some 40 years ago. This wasbefore there was a Mexican restaurant on every corner, but it was our favorite. Back then, of course, things didn't cost nearlyas much and we would get out of there, eating full meals, for $10. We ate there last night for the first time in several yearsand the place is looking its age, and it cost us, with tip, $32. Again, I know that things cost more today than they did 40years ago, but for what we got, it was not worth $32. Our two soft drinks were nearly $6. That's the price of 5 liters of Pepsiin the store. I guess we have probably gone to Hacienda on 1st Avenue for the last time, makes me sad. Read more
