I tried my first-ever mochi donut from the Rio Donutchew location. Since I have no point of comparison to other mochi donuts, my... review is mainly based on very subjective initial impression. I must say…”Donutchew” is a rather odd name that isn’texactly the most appetizing.\n\nThe shop itself is very cozy. The owners have spent a lot on decor. It’s a good gathering spotfor couples and friends with a cafe vibe.\n\nThe menu is varied and includes coffee and other drinks, as well as a wide varietyof mochi donut flavors.\n\nI tried the plain and Ube-frosted donuts. They were ok. I was not a fan of the chewy texture. I foundthe mouth feel to be a mix of spongy and chewy, particularly when compared to the light airiness of yeast-based donuts, or themelt-in-your mouth deliciousness of freshly-fried Duck Donuts.\n\nAgain, this was my first mochi donut experience, so my 3 starreview may not reflect the quality of Donutchew donuts (they may be amazing compared to other mochi donuts…or much worse!).Still, it was interesting to try and I wouldn’t mind trying some other flavors for comparison. It was a great experience for people who are wanting to try mochi donuts I got strawberry milk ,earl gray, churro ,mango, ... fruity pebble and red velvet donuts and even though they’re cold and would be better warmed up the donuts were sweet fluffyand airy I can understand why not everyone would like these donuts since they are very different than regular donuts that youget here but it was a great experience and I also got the passion fruit tea with Boba and the boba were soft and chewy and thepassion fruit tea really tasted like it was made from real passion fruit right then and there the place was super clean and thephoto booth was a nice touch. The only problem for me was that some of the reviews have donuts that we’re not on the menu thistime around so I’m assuming they change their donut menu every so often so make sure to go try it before they change the menuagain! I came here with my daughter yesterday, it was our first time. The cashier recommended the Oreo donut, so that’s what we got.... It was so good, I want to bring the rest of my family here for dessert soon. The donut was not dry at all, like most donuts are.I didn’t get a chance to try their tea or their “croffle”, but next time I definitely will. Read more

Nice clean place to hang out with friends for a snack. The donuts were okay but the drinks were surprisingly really really good!... The sweet level was perfect and not overpowering at all. We had fun at the photo booth also! Read more

I was craving donuts and my favorite go-to spot was already closed. Noticed there was a new donut shop that recently opened and... decided to give it a try. The donut shop is located inside the Fair Oaks Mall (pretty hidden deep in a corner nearH&M).\n\nEntered the store and was warmly greeted by the staff. Took a few minutes to look over the menu and decided to try 3different types of donuts. They are shaped like flowers and look much different than your average donut - so I was curious tosee what it tasted like. They also have a variety of different drinks and since I love Thai tea, I had to try that as well.\n\nIwas excited to try the donuts right away so my son and I sat down at a table nearby outside of the shop. The taste was uniqueand very different, and the texture was not what I expected. It was very gummy and chewy - and the glaze was not that good. Wetook a couple bites, but ultimately we ended up throwing away the rest. The drink on the other hand was delicious and I woulddefinitely go back to try other flavors.\n\nThe ladies/employees were nice and friendly which is the only reason for the 3stars, but unfortunately the donuts were not (in my opinion). I find you’ll either love it or hate it and for me personally itwas the latter. Read more
