Took my daughter to this restaurant for a daddy daughter date. After making the reservations online I called in advance to... confirm that they'd be willing to meet the special requests I placed while making the reservation: placing flower petals on ourtable if I brought the flowers. I spoke to a lady and she confirmed that they'd be willing to meet that request as well asmaking sure we had a table by the window as stated in my request. I arrived 30 minutes early (with flowers in hand) just to betold by a manager that it was against the policy for them to place real flower petals on the table. As you can imagine I wasvery upset. If a company is willing to have an unintelligent employee who doesn't know something as simple as the company'spolicies man the phone, then that causes me to believe that this is a company of liers which I have no desire to support bydining with them. I decided for my daughters sake it'd be best if I allowed this to play out, and so I did. And I must say I amglad that I did. I had the most amazing server named Mark. This gentleman is 75% of the reason I gave this review 5 stars, theother 25% is the kitchen staff. Mark made sure my daughter was served like the princess she is. From helping her set her napkinon her lap, to removing our wine glasses without having to be asked. I had no intention on giving this restaurant a 5 starreview after the whole flower situation, but Mark and the kitchen staff did such a spectacular job it left me with no choice. Imust say I was tempted to give a 3 star review for the simple fact that even after the whole flower situation, the manager whotold me their petal policy never once came over to check on us, which is extremely unprofessional. As a manager you should havethe best customer service skills. I want to start off by saying that I feel bad giving a place we have been multiple times this bad of a rating, but the service... was just not there tonight. 2941 is not cheap by any means, and with that there comes a level of expectations service wise thatyou might not expect at more affordable locations. Our server tonight did not even tell us that there were specials tonight, theonly reason we found out was hearing another server tell their table. By this time our food had already been ordered, so itwould of been a whole thing to change meal choices. We were also not asked ONCE how our food tasted by our server, or ifeverything came out all right. This is not usually a big deal, but again there are higher expectations that come with higherpricetags. Overall, sadly this place is hit or miss service wise depending on which server you get. I thought about this for awhile before writing this review. 2941 has been the go-to restaurant for special occasions for me and... my now fiancé and we always get the chef’s tasting there. The outdoor area is beautiful and the inside is classy. Drinks arealways good. When we first came here, we were wowed by the flavors and presentation of the dishes, and the service made us feellike VIPs. The next few times, the service was still excellent, but the food wasn’t as good as the first time, usually hitsfor 2-3 items and misses for the rest. Finally we went last night to celebrate our new engagement. It seems that ourinstructions on OpenDoor were not read. We requested a seat by the window, the hostess led us to the middle of the room until wepointed out there was availability at the window and she complied. The server was friendly but did not regularly check up on us.At one point we had waited for 5 min for her to introduce our dishes when they arrived, and when we finally just stared at her,she came over to ask what’s wrong and introduced the dishes. I had also told her the maitake mushrooms were too salty to eatand she let the chef know but did not offer to bring me anything else out. Our special occasion was not addressed at all and atthe end of the meal, there were no complimentary bites from the chef like there usually is either. Regarding the food, theceviche with watermelon granita was refreshing, and the salmon with spinach cream sauce and caviar was creamy and delicious. Wewere so excited to try the next few courses but they were disappointing. The Mushrooms were too salty compared to the pate. TheKorean bbq lacked imagination, has less flavor than usual Korean bbq buffets. The dessert was very average and not up to itsusual standards. I was so excited to try 2941 but it truly disappointed me . I went for my birthday on a Thursday and we got seated right away.... Our server was not attentive at all but he was kind. It took us 30 mins to get our complimentary bread basket and then another30 mins for the waiter to come back and finally let us order our food. So it took a whole hour just to order our food which isextremely too long. My partner and I ordered the duck and ribeye and it was good. The duck was absolutely amazing but the ribeyewas okay . We also ordered a dessert and again , the waiter took 30 mins to come back and ask what we want. At least the foodcame out at quickly and the desserts were good. Absolutely delicious courses, extremely fresh, and perfectly portioned. Our waiter was very helpful and explained each of the... dishes when they arrived. The hamachi & oyster course, was so balanced and refreshing. They made my wife's birthday special aswell, announcing her 33rd birthday on the menu! Always remember my first visit to the 2941 restaurant many years ago. The design of the driveway created a wonderful... anticipation of the restaurant. 2941 truly delivered on their magnificent landscape. The wonderful view created so close to thebeltway was a pleasant surprise. The waterfall and the koi fish create a most pleasant setting. We'll never forget the chefcoming out to greet us at our table on our first visit. Then inviting us on a tour of the fabulous kitchen. We had manywonderful visits. Fast forward October 2021. Had not visited in a few years. I knew from observing the menu and the change inthe artwork. The restaurant had changed hands. It is still visually beautiful. However I was disappointed with the service andthe menu. I would no longer consider this to be fine dining. My pasta dish was so filled with scallions/onions. We had nice dinner here for celebrating my husband's birthday. Beautiful environment! Food is tasty! Worth every penny. Service... is great! Why not 5 stars? Because when I made reservation though their official website, I did write we are celebratingbirthday. But I don't think they noticed. Until the end the waiter asked my husband if his birthday.
