I?ve been going to LCG on Gratiot for years and years. The staff is efficient and the food is always spot on. Unfortunately the... employees at this location are untrained and the food is not the same. On a midweek lunch hour I took 3 people here for lunch. After a half hour without being served I asked at the counter if my order was ready or close? my response was a cold stare. Hadwe not already paid we definitely would have left. We ended up throwing away most of what we ordered - it wasn?t hot and itwasn?t good. Never again. Read more

This is not real gumbo fam. It?s not at all. My greens were sweet! Why? The Mac noodles where to soft. The 7up pound cake was... nice an thick but it was dry. We need to re re re think this y?all. The bbq chicken was not put on any gril. Just covered insauce. The bbq sauce was great but, why do we need rice with bbq? The portion sizes are great. However, This is not a greatrepresentation of anything creole. Read more

I have been wanting to try this place forever! I will say this. Staff is super nice and the place looks very clean. The... jambalaya is so good. So are the candied yams. I liked the baked chicken and rice but I needed to throw a little tonys on it formore flavor. Now the reason for 3 stars. It literally has gumbo in the name and it was the thing I didn't like at all. Hasanyone who made this food lived in Louisiana? That gumbo would have been laughed at (chicken gumbo). It is plain and so wateryas if they.didn't even make a roux for it. Chicken was ick. Where is the SPICE AND FLAVOR?!I had to throw my own gumbo file andseasons in. I tried so hard to find a place with gumbo so I didn't have to always make it myself. I guess that will to stay thesame. Do yalls self a favor and go to the neighborhoods in the bayou and have some of theirs and see what the difference is Read more

This place is so good! The red beans and rice were the best I've ever had. The collards were very flavorful and cooked to... perfection. The corn muffins were also bomb - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I appreciated that there were so manyvegetarian options. The staff were very friendly and the place was clean and airy. I am definitely going back. Read more

Back in the beginning of February, I order 2 Red Beans & Rice with Cajun sausages & shrimp with extra shrimp. I order this all... the time from the Gratiot location. When I got to my location and tasted my food the sausages were so nasty no spice and verymushy. I called the store on orchard lake immediately and asked did the change sausages, I was told someone in management wouldgive me a call back. I let a whole week go by without a returned callback. I called the following Friday and spoke with a ladymanager. She gave me the spill about they have not been able to order from the original manufacture but everything had beenresolved since I placed my order. I was told they would remake my order. So, last Saturday I called to inform I would have myson come and pick up the order. When he gets there they have the same sausages that I ALREADY stated they were not tasteful. Thelady told me and my son someone would be giving me a call back so I can just get a refund. If I didn?t like the sausages lasttime why would I want you to remake something I don?t like. I have been eating Louisiana creole gumbo for 22 yrs. I don?t eatanything else on there menu so I knew immediately the red beans and rice was different. They are holding my $31 hostage. Sosince last Saturday I still haven?t heard from anyone and it?s March 1 VERY unacceptable. If you can not provide quality serviceto customer don?t hold there money Hostage refund them and provide decent customer services. Read more

I just visited this location today for the first time. I ordered red beans and rice with Cajun Sausage, Classic Jambalaya,... Shrimp Gumbo, 2 Shrimp Po'boy sandwiches and a slice of 7up pound cake. Let me tell you....this DID NOT DISAPPOINT! It was allflavorful and delicious! The staff welcomed everyone who came through the door and the service was fast, friendly and efficient. This is definitely a return to spot! I told Stephanie as I was checking out that they MUST plan on being open for more than 3days. The food is just too good for them to not be open all week! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! Read more

I'm very impressed with the Louisiana authenticity of the food. I worked with Stephanie, the owner's daughter to photograph a... few of these dishes and she seemed genuine and very helpful. I noticed her and the staff's customer service was spot on aswell. This is their 3rd location. The original one is in Detroit and opened back in 1970. They have a great back story too. When visiting you can read all about it.I had the seafood gumbo and it was soooo good. Just the right amount of seasoning! Takea look at these dishes!! Delish! I am going to try the chicken Po'Boy and the classic jambalaya next time. Enjoy and let themknow you read this review. Read more

The choices were plentiful and my Red Beans and Rice with added Chicken was DELICIOUS and hearty. My husband ordered the Seafood... Gumbo and we couldn?t eat it all, delicious as well. I?d been waiting for this place to open for the longest and was informed,it was difficult to find people to work and because of that this location will only be opened, Thursday Thru Saturday untilthey?re fully staffed. The staff was friendly with great smiles and the place was colorful and welcoming, but you couldn?t dinein at this time. I?ve visited their other locations in Detroit and very excited to see them closer to my neighborhood. If youbuy any of their offerings I guarantee you?ll go back for more. Congratulations on your new location and The very Best is yetto come. God?s continuous Blessings. I pray you get the right staff to aid in your continuous growth. Amen!!! Read more
