Like taking a step back in time, old school malt shop. Walk up to the window and order from the incredibly polite high school... employees. Concretes, sundaes, sno-cones and more with enough topping options you could probably concoct a zillion uniquedelicious options. Break away from the faceless corporate froyo joints and peep this place. Lots of parking and picnic benchesall over the place so you can hang with the family and enjoy a Heath hot fudge and caramel sundae topped with pecans. That?swhat I did. My husband & I celebrated our 40th Anniversary in St. Louis, and The Malt Shop was one of the places we stopped at, for some Ice... Cream. The staff was super sweet and the Ice Cream was very delicious. We ordered the Turtle treat..very very good! Read more
Order 2 concretes to take home. Received one right away, the second one I had to wait another 10 minutes for in 93 degree heat ,... while the other one melted. I told them about the melted one, but they did not seem to care and closed the window on me. Itossed it and walked away. Wasted 15.00 dollars for nothing. This place is not worth it. Will not patronize this place anymore.Will be going back to Ted Drew's they make the best concretes. Read more
Just as good as I remember it being 25 years ago!! The ice cream is a sweet creamy ice cream and you could definitely enjoy it... plain! They happily, created a brownie supreme sundae for me. It's not on their menu but they made it and it was perfect! Thankyou Malt Shop for STILL being in business after all these years! Read more
The Malt Shop is my favorite spot for a sweet treat. The only negative thing I have to say is that I?m mad it took me so long to... find it! I?ve lived in St. Louis for 17 years, and it wasn?t until about a year ago that I finally heard about it. Now, trust mewhen I say that it?s not because no one else knows about it because that is absolutely not the case, tons of people LOVE it!There?s a little too much hype around a certain St. Louis spot for ice cream. Don?t get me wrong, that place is good, but Ican?t tell you how many times I?ve had to pass that place by or exit the parking lot without a treat due to crowds, and I didn?tknow where else to go because no one seemed to know. Well, I can tell you that The Malt Shop is the place to go, and I do NOTmean as a backup or last resort. They?re my favorite because they sell better-tasting stuff (seriously, the best chocolate maltI?ve ever had), AND they have some absolutely delicious burgers and fries, so you can actually have a meal here! Everyone isfriendly, they?re efficient when they get busy, and it?s a cute spot away from 141 or any other busy road, so you can feel safethere with your kids. My family and I are big fans! Read more

Excellent ice cream spot! It's right off of 141 in south St. Louis and definitely worth the detour. I need to come more hungry... next time and grab some food but the ice cream treats were delicious! Read more
