If you are in the area or passing through this is a definite stop! Looks small from outside but there is plenty of seating. We... had come from Jeffery's Antique indoor flea market on the same exit (161) The food was all really good, service good & wait forfood was good/as expected. Our table ordered: Fried Mushrooms ????? (ranch/horseradish sauces) Wings (ordered to go,crispy) Hatch burger with homemade chips & pickle ????? 8 oz Sirloin with scalloped potatoes & dark horse salad ????? The steakwas a pleasant surprise. I was a little worried about ordering steak but it was really good. The seasoning & cook was perfectfor me. The salad was also really good. It had a radish slice, half an egg, croutons & bacon. I added onion to mine. The chipswere homemade & nicely seasoned. The wings we got to go & ordered crispy and haven't tried but they smelled fantastic. There isa great variety on menu. Food and drinks are the best! Had a great waitress, Amy, who kept her cool even tho the restaurant was clearly under staffed!... Customers just need to be kind and patient!.... just had breakfast here.. definately not out first time.. the breakfast foodsoutstanding.. you get SO MUCH for your money! What can I say! I LOVE finding hidden gems and this was 1 of them! Fun atmosphere for family or a night out! The bartender... Princesses J...I believe was a hoot and made you feel completely at home! I was lucky enough to be there when they had the primerib special and let me tell you it was spot on! YUMMY! The salad was amazing as well! I did take-out and had a cocktail whilewaiting...they. were good as well! I've already recommended it to 2 different people and I encourage you to stop if in the area! Read more
Just passing through... Really the place is Awesome. We were traveling over the holidays and came across the Dark Horse. It was... a little off the beaten path and the building is not fancy but the food and service were outstanding. I had the mushroomburger with onion rings which was worth ordering again. Baby girl had the bacon cheeseburger with fries and she loved it - theburgers are thick and prepared well - Wifie had the club sandwich with a side salad. The club sandwich was really good but theside salad was great - their blue cheese dressing is fantastic... The Dark Horse is worth stopping by for a meal when in theFinley area. Read more
I ordered the double with no cheese that was cooked to medium. The beef patties were cooked to my desired taste and the... flavoring was really good. I would definitely order this again if I was super hungry! Read more
I ?? LOVE this place! Do not judge a book by its cover! Especially this bo-restaurant. It looks like a dive bar from the... outside. The name is much more indicative of a biker bar. And the interior is about as lame and un-ispired as you can get... however- THIS PLACE ROCKS!!! Great service! And VALUE! This exact same meal cost $80 at Shawys Alehouse in BG. $50 at DarkHorse. (2 Prime Rib Specials, Dark Horses are 2 oz bigger as well) This place isn't perfect. Besides it's name and looks,they actually served me a side of applesauce, that was Musslemans. How do I know this? ???? (last pic if you click on it) Because they brought it out sealed in a single serving cup, like my nibblings get in their lunch boxes for school!!! ???? However, they are WAY. WAY, WAY better than a 4 star review, which is what I'd have to leave if I was being aperfectionist. 4 stars out of 5 is 80%. This place might not be a true 5 star (100% perfect), but the value, service, andquality of food, has made this one of my new faves. 97% -1% for the confusing name, -1% for the appearance, -1% for theapplesauce. ??
