Root & Bone had been on my list of restaurants to try in the Niagara region for quite some time now. We decided to do a girls... night out here and it was fabulous! Though our table wasn't ready on time, we began our night downstairs at Root & Bone epicurecellar... we indulged in some cocktails then quickly transitioned into some shots. We ended up ordering some appetizersdownstairs due to our reso upstairs not being ready yet - pistachio crusted scallops and oysters... tasty. Once our table wasready upstairs, we switched to a lovely bottle of cab sauv and began our feast... we ordered the grilled gem romaine and truffleparmesan fries then for our mains, we ordered the NY strip and the beef tenderloin... we were pretty stuffed but all in all, this was fine dining at its finest. I had the pleasure of personally meeting Chef Raymond who is truly inspiring and aphenomenal chef - we need more fine dining restaurants like this in the Niagara region. Justin was our server downstairs and hehad excellent customer service, loved his attire as well! Upstairs our server was Alex who too had excellent customer service, and Katie the FOH Manager is the perfect fit for the job, she is kind and soft spoken, very welcoming. I believe in paying forquality food, drinks, and experience, therefore, while others may think this restaurant is pricey, I believe it's worth everypenny. I can't say I'll be back on a regular basis but I've added Root & Bone to mine and my significant others' date nightlist. See you next time! Read more

Title of review: "to taste or not to taste, that is the question" While attending the summer street festival this summer, I saw... this lovely looking restaurant, and made a point of trying it - tonight was the night! Small, intimate place, lovely lookingdecor. While I'm glad to have checked it off my "must visit" list, unfortunately, it will not be on my "must go back list". Iunderstand many places have scaled back their menu items, that's definitely what we felt here. Party of 3, one had strip loinsteak that looked great but lacked flavour. I had butternut squash soup and crab cakes, both were very tasty. Another had soupand then dessert, a beautiful pumpkin cheesecake. As I have read in other reviews, you can see the open kitchen and all theprep going on. It wasn't the very loud environment that cemented my review decision, nor the limited and high priced menu, itwas watching the Chef place a spoon into a pan, then taste it, then return the spoon to the pan and continue cooking the dish. Isaw this happen three times before I stopped watching....maybe this is why kitchens are commonly not visible to theircustomers? Summary: small, loud, what I ate was tasty, nice presentation, artistic even, but if I wanted to share my meal, Iwould, with those I was dining with, not the staff.... Sorry, it's a miss from me! First let's start out by saying we had an excellent time and the food was great. Root and Bone has a unique approach to foods... compared to most (all?) other restaurants in the Niagara Region. We haven't been since 2019 and back then while the food wasunique and interesting it was missing some flavor. This time definitely improved on that. For appetizers my wife had the searedscallops which she loved - tons of flavor and she loved. I had the oysters which were good - not much you can do to raw oystersto you are dependent on the oyster itself to make the meal. For dinner my wife had the Waygu Beef Bolognese Pappardelle. Again, nice rich flavors and I was surprised she was able to eat it all. Myself I had a venison special where the meat was on a bed ofmushroom risotto. The venison was cooked perfectly to my liking and was very juicy & tender. The risotto itself was magnificent- so rich and tons of flavor. My only "complaint" was I should have asked for more of the risotto. For dessert we shared thecheesecake with, I believe, pistachio ice cream. The ice cream had lots of flavor and the cheesecake had a subtle blueberry togo with the elderflower. We paired the dinner with a delicious Cote de Rhone. There were so many other things on the menu wewanted to try we'll definitely be going back Read more

What a truly amazing culinary experience! My wife and I were treated to dinner at the Root & Bone with my parents. Everything... about it was simply wonderful, from the initial welcoming and seating, to the decor and ambiance, the friendly service, and ofcourse, the food. For appetizers we had the pork belly and scallops. Main courses were all fish, 3 or us choosing the specialwhich was a Mediterranean sea bass. Lastly, some cheesecake and apple cobbler for desert. All the food was just perfect inevery way, from the presentation, to the balance of flavours, freshness, temperature, and so on. We also had a great view ofthe kitchen in operation, and chef Ray as the conductor. Thank you! Read more

For one who has such expansive experience cheffing for the rich and famous around the world, Chef Ray Taylor is humble, kind,... and down to earth; we feel honoured to be served by him and his team. Every detail of every dish is exquisite and thoughtful.Everything is delicious and a felicitous culinary dream. We are regulars for a few years and we've never been disappointed.Never mind the 5 stars here, he is a 3 Michelin Star chef and restaurant! Read some of the reviews here and not shocking thatthey are all excellent. Note: when dining at a place like this, etiquette would dictate that one need not ask for extra salt (orpepper either probably), so definitely not fried onions! Read more
