My partner and I had a very enjoyable time here. We got the Potato Wedges for the appetizer and Pig Out meal with an extra side... and extra cornbread. Wait time wasn't too long. Very average wait for the amount of food we got. It was all very delicious andthe staff were very accommodating. I think our favorites were the ribs (which were SO tender and literally fell off the bone),fresh cornbread (the BEST), and BBQ baked beans. Kielbasa was also tasty. However the pulled pork and brisket were okay. Butstill good! The chef was very kind and steps out to talk with customers and asked us how our meal was and even talked aboutwhat brought us here. This place is legit. The barbecue is so good here. Also the staff and service is very good, as are the prices. The wings are... smoky and the bbq combo is both large and delicious. A great place to go and have a good meal in the area. Read more
Stopped by here after a hike through the Bear Mountain Loop Trail - we were famished! This area is so close to New York City yet... has surprisingly few eateries around. Barnstormer is between a diner and a barbecue restaurant. Service was on the slower side- they got really busy just as we walked in with a large biker group, so it?s understandable. Barbecue options - particularlythe Pig Out - were better than the grill options, which were frankly not good. Thankfully they replaced one of our Cajun chickenplatters when the person in our party could not bear the taste. In short - stick to the barbecue options. One of the best bbq spot around bear mountain area. I've been coming here since 2016. Ribs are my favorites along with pulled... pork sandwich. Their bbq sauce is awesome as well. Read more
A friendly local barbeque restaurant and bar. I had the slider sampler plate. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor of the... Carolina style pulled pork which I likely would not have opted for by itself. The portions are generous and the service wasexcellent. I would definitely go here again. And I did two days later. Got the polish sausage platter. That sausage was at leasta pound!!! Read more
After a wonderful hike on Bear Mountain, we got really hungry. Thankfully this place was right down the road and open for... business. The staff was super kind and friendly. The menu options were what you?d expect at a BBQ restaurant and the flavors didnot disappoint! The baked beans were spot on, which is where I like to start to know if a restaurant cares about what they?reserving; and they clearly do! Everything on our plate tasted amazing, especially after a hike. I?d recommend the pulled pork andthat sauce as my most memorable (for me) but the entire plate was delicious. If you?re eating with someone this can easily beshared for two with leftovers. You won?t be underserved like some restaurants in the city (a joyful mistake we made by orderingseparate ???? gave us plenty.) The French onion soup is great too! Someone recommended we dip our fries in it and that was agame changer! Definitely has a homey vibe with people who care about food and good service.
