This was a quick stop for us that ended being a 2 hour stay. We enjoyed watching the Kentucky Derby with the energetic crowd. It... was packed (which was expected). I got a sprite since I do not drink however my friend got a few drinks that she enjoyed. Therewere two people looking around talking pictures and they pasted us by several times which was obvious and rude but other thanthat I can not really complain. Read more
NIGHT VS DAY REVIEWS. I'm doing four star because if you go during the day it's a five-star experience. Night time on a weekend... I would say 3 1/2 star-ish. Allow me to explain... DAYTIME REVIEW ???????????????????????????? I just moved here and got myhaircut and asked where I could get a quick meal. I was directed to Nickel City. I ran across the street and had been told toorder at the food truck in the back, by my stylist. Big mistake. I thought the guy was going to rip my face off. I was directedback inside. If I'm honest, I had been tempted to actually leave. But thank God I didn't! It's a self-serve so I took a seatand ordered the $13.13 lunch special that includes a slider w/cheese (which is actually between a regular burger and a slider),fries, beer and a shot. Darn good Burger! I'm not a beer person but I chose a Tangerine Queen and I'm now obsessed with it.Anytime I go anywhere I look for it and no one ever has it. (I heard Total Wine does.) Even though it's made here locally, it'sseasonal and I assume they're selective about who they allow to sell it so that alone would make me go back. Fun old historicalbuilding, lots of locals, wide open seating, great old bar top. Matthew, the bartender is super friendly as well as the gal thatwas bartending with him. All the older regulars were there chatting and laughing and I struck up a conversation with a winedistributor guy who gave me a lot of information and history about the area, the bars, even Nickel City. I love the mid-centurymodern type decor/bathroom and font they use on their menus. All kinds of specialty drinks. Felt like a small town dive bar eventhough it's in a big city (But with fancy drinks). Overall, this was an excellent experience. Exactly what I was wanting. And Icouldn't wait to share it with my boyfriend since we live right down the street from it. Nickel City is located near a cluster of other bars and restaurants and is worth a quick stop. Music is loud so conversation is... strained, beer is mostly a domestic assortment, and the food is for snacking not a full meal. Service takes a while to get adrink, but the atmosphere was fine. If I was bar hopping, this would be a one beer destination. Read more
This place has a fun vibe. There were creative drinks I've never tried before, mixed in with some staples, such as a Highball... and Penicillin. The bartenders were also really nice. Another big plus is that they allow dogs to come inside the bar. And arollar skating group stopped by when I was here. Clearly people come here for the fun. Read more

Cool bar with pretty cheap drinks and food. Will definitely be coming back here. They decorated for Christmas and it was cool,... but you're definitely not going to be sitting once you get inside. It's a cool idea, but I'm ready for the bar to go back to howit normally is. Read more
