This gem is tucked away in the middle of Alexander plaza. Good comfort food. We got chicken strips, catfish, Mac and cheese,... greens, toast, and fries. Wondrously tasty. Everything was fresh out of the fryer. The greens were perfectly seasoned. Thechicken and fish are big pieces. You will not leave hungry. I did not. The staff are polite and take care of you. The dine inarea is clean and has a hip and modern feel to it. The music is soulful. Goes great wiith the food. Honestly, I was surprisedthat they were not busier here when we went. This unassuming joint has some seriously good chicken. Big fan of their sandwich that complements their great chicken with nice... coleslaw, pickles, and a bun that can stand up to the greatness between it. As someone accused of having a "hot sauce problem",the executioner sauce had heat that could be felt but was nowhere near uncomfortable. Good stuff. Read more

Nailed it! Chicken and waffles was exactly the thing I didn?t know I needed. Home run! Live music was also a nice addition. I... didn?t think I was going to like the tunes, but it wasn?t too loud and added something to the experience. We finished the mealwith the fried Oreos. This place came highly recommended and it was ok at best. First the staff was not that engaged to help first time customers with... the ordering process then took 20 minutes to make 3 milkshakes. Don't offer milkshakes if you can't make milkshakes due too lackof staffing. We got our hot food but still waited 8 minutes for milkshakes!!! Now to the food: catfish was good but chickenwing was not good. The seasoning on the meat was tasty. Worst collard greens ever!! It was a congealed mess in a cup but Macand cheese was good. Fun shop that just heaps mountains of amazing food onto a tray and tells you to enjoy! We got the combo meal with chicken... tenders and catfish. I had slaw and French fries. The fish and chicken were so fresh. We both had to take some home becausethere was simply too much to eat at one sitting. We will be back. Hopefully soon! Read more

If you are a fan of Nashville hot chicken then you will enjoy this place. I stopped in here for lunch and ordered a leg quarter... plate with the "Stop drop and roll" (Hot) heat level. The heat was just enough that most people who like spicy food of any kindwill be just fine. Anything hotter than than that will be for people who really like HOT food. The meal was very well executedand chicken was cooked to perfection. Personally, I prefer the flavors of Princes or Hattie B's but Big Shake's is stillcertainly very good. I am a huge fan of hot chicken, especially one of the other local favorites, and I normally prefer to go there. However, I will... say that Big Shake?s really turned it around for me. Their chicken was extremely flavorful, and the spice was there but ittasted great too! Chicken is worth trying! The catfish is definitely worth trying! The Mac and cheese was on point, and so werethe greens. I will probably be taking the drive to Big Shake?s next time I?m craving chicken, especially since I won?t have towait over an hour for my order! Read more
