Expected a pleasant sit down lunch. Was not greeted , had to go to the rear to a cashier window. I told the clerk I wanted to... dine in. I was given a paper menu. I repeated I wanted to eat at a table. She took my order and rang up $27. I asked if anytable is ok. She replied yes. The table was dirty and had magazines about guns on it. My food was brought to me in carry outcontainers! I said where are the dishes? She for the first time said they only have carry out. Check many of the good reviewsand you will see they were from a few years ago! In short, no service, excessive prices, small portions. The quality went down dramatically..... I didn't order steak but mongolian beef & orange beef: what I got were pieces so big, I... needed a knife to eat.... the preparer so lazy to cut the meat in smaller pieces. You shouldn't need a knife to eat Chinesefood. Read more

The lady who takes order at the front desk is horrible. She always has an attitude. I normally wouldn't care and pick up the... food because food itself wasn't horrible. But it obviously is not the best, they only survive because Frederick is a small townand there are not much of choices. Today, I ordered 2 dinner combo meal and and my soups were not in the bag so I called to ask.She was arguing with me that she assumed I didn't want the soup because I didn't tell her which kind of soup I want. Iunderstand that but it is also your job to know your menu and if the customer has forgotten to point out, it was your job to askalso. Such a minor issue but her attitude escalate situation. I am sure she is the owner or the family member, a hired staffwouldn't behave like that. Her response was "come back if you want your soup but I don't want to talk to you." & "you never toldme about soup. I figured you didn't want any because some customers don't want their soup." Was looking for a Chinese Food delivery and Netflix kinda night and stumbled across Hunan Gourmet. Well, they did not... disappoint…, the food was very good and very fresh - seasoned well without being salty and greasy. I ordered my go to entreewhich is Egg Foo Young and Shrimp Fried Rice. Been eating it for years and never understood how some restaurants couldn’t getthis basic plate right. Well, this was not the case for Hunan Gourmet. I crossed my fingers after placing the delivery orderhoping it would be authentic and good. They delivered fast and delivered great food! You can always rely on Hunan to get it right. Every time I order they are friendly and respectful and each dish I’ve tried is... spot on. Tonight I ordered delivery and the driver waited to make sure I got my food and was friendly. When I dug in, I waspleasantly surprised by upgraded packaging and my favorite dish (the orange chicken) was next level! Refer to the picture.Looked even better in person. Thank you as always Hunan! Just ordered online delivery! Hunan Gourmet is the only Chinese place I order from. I used to go to China Garden with family but... since they closed I had to find a new spot I could depend on for great service and quality food. Hunan never disappoints andthey always deliver in a convenient time frame. They always get my order correct and pack it in the bag with care. The food isalways hot and ready to eat, I never have to reheat it like some delivery places. I got the Mu Shi chicken, pancakes, fried riceand Szechwan string beans. It is so delicious and I am so pleased that I wanted to leave a review! I have worked in the foodindustry for years and am getting my culinary hospitality degree and enjoy quality restaurants like this. This place has the best chinese foods in Frederick. The best sized plates for the price with the best flavor. The chicken fried... rice is a must to get with each order. The egg drop soup is also a must try if you have never had it. They even come with wontonwrappers. Read more

Atmosphere: From the outside it doesn't look like much but upon entering, the inside looked very clean and spacious given the... footprint allotted. Service: Once we were seated fairly quickly we were given menus and then took a bit to get our order.Whenever we were addressed the service was good but was often waiting a couple of times. Quality: We came in for lunch and weregiven a decent amount of food for a lunch special as opposed to other places in which provide a small amount. The food was good,I got the Sesame Chicken, egg drop soup, strawberry bubble tea and it all had good flavor to it but nothingextraordinary.
