I was here for a business lunch. We chose this place because it was seemed interesting. It is an old bank and even still has the... vault inside as a reused space. We?ve been wanting to try this place for a little while as it has received great reviews and always seemed busy. We had a friend... visiting from out of town and decided to give it a shot this morning for brunch. Great place and great atmosphere. I had thebiscuits and gravy. It was excellent. My friend had the steak tacos and thought they were great. The portions are generous andthe cost is very reasonable. Things could have moved a little more quickly but the atmosphere and food made that vanish quickly.Our waiter was friendly, nice, and attentive. I?m from Canada and go here every time I?m in the area. The staff is so nice too! even got my friend visiting to go here too and... even they said it was some of the best food they?ve had. Also.. Although the service was excellent, the food was not. My wife had the lamb, and she was disappointed. I had the pork chops,... and it was good - not great. The pork chop had taste - but not tasteful. My daughter and the server said the most popular timewas for brunch on the weekend. We will try that and see if the food is better. Also, not sure if this is inflation related,but the meal seemed to be over priced. Read more
We were passing through Fredericksburg VA and stopped by Foode for lunch. What a charming, historic place! It was a bank... building for years, but was ?tastefully? remodeled into a great restaurant! My wife had a fried chicken sandwich and I hadprobably the best B-A-L-T (bacon, avocado, lettuce, & tomato) sandwich ever!!! My wife thought her chicken sandwich was good,but not the best ever. The beverages were good, not the best, but good. I would go there again given the choice. All in all, itwas a good meal and a nice place to enjoy some quiet time with my beautiful wife. Read more
We were driving through town and made a pit stop here. Very nice place with amazing decor. The food was very good, we had the... black bean burger and she had a steak salad. Probably the best of either we have ever had. We sat outside because we had a dogand the server brought out a big dog bowl. I?d come back here! Read more
We enjoyed lunch here last Saturday. We didn't have reservations but only ended up waiting about 30 mins after being told it may... take an hour. The historic details inside made a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our table was in the vault beyond the huge steeldoor. Our waitress was very friendly and informative. We ordered Biscuits & Gravy, The Princess Anne Salad with Salmon, Shrimp &Grits and Steak Salad Baguette. We all thought our food was very well prepared and delicious although a tad bit salty. I expected that this would be an excellent review, but we were disappointed by our visit to Foode. In concept, a farm fresh to ... restaurant is a great idea, but that requires that the food be cooked properly and the prices reasonable. In the case of Foode,the food was not cooked properly and the prices were high. I had the pork tenderloin. The pork was overcooked and the greenbeans were almost not cooked. A friend had a steak. The steak was nearly raw. The pork was dry, tough, and tasteless. Thegreen beans were so farm fresh that they apparently forgot to cook them. The shrimp with grits that included sausage had almostno sausage and was just blah. We asked to make a couple changes to our order, but were told that was impossible for the cooks. A friend who visited Foode said that the salad was just slab of lettuce. The service was generally good, despite the constantup-selling. Unfortunately, they never asked if I needed more water. Nevertheless, the staff was friendly and allowed us tochat for an extended time. The tastiest item on the menu was a small portion of cornbread, freshly baked, with a dollop ofbutter. The cornbread didn't come with your meal, it's a $3.50 extra. In all, the bill for two people who had water and noother drink was $81. The price would have been acceptable had the food been cooked properly. To summarize, Foode has goodpotential but the overpriced, poorly cooked, food made for a great disappointment. Read more
