This place is just a really nice surprise for Freeport. I?ve been coming here frequently for years now, and it?s just always... really good. Prices are fair, fish is always really fresh. I eat sushi all around the area, Madison, and Rockford, and thisplace rivals anywhere in either of those places. I honestly think it?s better, but just has a smaller selection of items. Read more

Just had the sushi lunch special. I was kinda of hesitant because the prices where insanely good. It was so good, the spicy grab... roll was fantastic. I only got one tray, I want to go back right now for more. Definitely going to be a frequent spot for me toeat. Read more

Tastes great. However, employees NEED to be wearing hairnets. There has been hair in the sushi a couple times. Not appetizing at... all. Read more

Amazing Sushi! Some of the best food in Freeport area.Servers are always friendly & prompt. Don't fall for the bogus review... given - I've NEVER waited 40 minutes for food or asked 4 times for water here. This place rocks and holds a strong comparisonto other great sushi establishments I've visited around the world Highly recommend! Try the green devil roll.: ) Read more

Was good. I'm not a big fan of sushi but It was ok. The Tapanyaki Steak was real good. My wife has been there 3 times and likes... it. It is the only Japanese restaurant in Freeport that I'm aware of so If you are in the mood for sushi this is the place foryou. Many menu options with reasonable pricing. Will return. Read more

Stopped by here on a Sunday evening after 5p with another family on our drive back to Chicago from Galena only because 1) we... were told to stop in Freeport for ice cream at Union Dairy and their grill is closed on Sundays; 2) virtually every otherrestaurant in Freeport was closed. We came here two miles away because it was not only open, but seemed to have decent reviews. The modest exterior was a bit concerning but inside, clean decor, a very friendly staff, and delicious food awaited. Being fromChicago, we figured there was zero chance this place would have sushi that would be on par with some of our favoriteneighborhood spots in the city. However, not only was the sushi of great quality, the value was amazing relative to what we'reuse to. Got the Family Sushi Roll plate with eight rolls for $37, including 4 miso soups and crab rangoon. The Ryan Roll wasthe best. We also ordered four bento boxes and the shrimp and yume yume chicken were quite flavorful. Kids loved everythingthey had. Would welcome the opportunity to come back and eat here again. Read more

The primary reason this rating is so low is because the atmosphere is completely wrong for a sushi place. There is no music, the... decorations are japanese but that's literally it. They have salt and pepper on the table. You start with a fork. We had to askfor soy sauce saucers. The amount of wasabi and ginger was much less compared to all of the other sushi places we have been to.They gave us fortune cookies at the end. The atmosphere is closer to a takeout diner that suddenly serves japanese food. Themenu wasn't bad. The fish selection wasn't large, and 90% of all the rolls have cream cheese. The rolls themselves were okay. The tiger and the baked salmon rolls were great. The Marry roll, Alaska, and spicy salmon with crunchy rolls had very littleflavor. The house salad dressing wasn't bad at all; I just wish they had more variety in vegetables. The service was okay. Ourwaitress was very smiley, but was quiet and was not very engaging. She literally did her JOB. There's nothing wrong with it, buthaving customer interaction really adds value to the customer experience. I doubt we would ever actively seek to go to thisplace again; if we were in the area and feeling very lazy, we would go here. The price isn't bad for what you get. Read more
