It has a lot of great spicy dishes. The service exceeds most Chinese restaurant, fast, attentive and very friendly with happy... face. The food server brought water after seeing burning mouth. We ordered beef, pork,fish, shrimps, tofu and pea shoots. All ofthem are great with big portions. We got a free dish coupon for next time. We went to this restaurant the second time. Alldishes are great in generous portions. Leftover can last a week at home. It's our spicy food restaurant. Read more

A newly-open Hunan Food restaurant in Fremont, I have been craving for some authentic Chinese spicy food, first time checked in... the restaurant today. We stopped here randomly on a trip & were pleasantly surprised. The food was superb & it was a pretty restaurant. We got wood... ear pork hotpot, sweet & sour fish, & a delicious mushroom & greens veggie plate. Everything was very good, & even the springrolls were way above average. We have been going to Spices for the last 7-8 years! Today, THE FOOD DID NOT TASTE AND LOOK THE SAME!! The PORTION SIZE WAS... HALF, no red chillies and the sauce was thin like water!!! Heard they changed the restaurant name and maybe a change inowner!! We enjoy the spices food almost 2-3 times a month. TODAY, it was a COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT!!! I normally don’t leave bad reviews, but I was so disappointed with the food today. This is the smallest size of numbering... spicy beef combo I ever received and it cost me $20; even with the inflation, the portion is ridiculously small. Beforepandemic, it was <$10. Other restaurants in the area sell it for $14.99 with a larger portion. It’s also not spicy at all. The only flavor I can taste is salty. It’s a shame for a Sichuan restaurant to sell a spice-less spicy dish. I wouldn'trecommend this place anymore. Read more

I’ve gotten food to go from this place a few times during the pandemic, and mostly enjoyed them. Saw they started indoor... dining so decided to come try in person. I don’t think they are quite staffed properly for the lunch crowd. I saw only oneperson who was allowed to take phone calls, take orders from dine-in patrons, and entering in orders into system. I wanted toadd an item, and that proved extremely difficult as I couldn’t flag down anyone. The table next to me waited a long time toorder, the table across from me kept asking for their missing dish.. there was a long line outside of people waiting to beseated or to pick up their to-go order that weren’t ready. Overall just total chaos. Now the food. I ordered the numbinglyspicy kidney and that was delicious. I didn’t realize that was a cold appetizer dish but that’s my own fault. Although Idon’t know why they felt the need to provide a whole plate of cilantro… was a bit excessive. The boiling fish dish has goodflavor, but I was a little disappointed that it only came with very small amount of veggies. I mean, that’s sometimes the bestpart of the dish, veggies on the bottom soaked up with delicious spicy flavor! One more thing- on the menu it says paying bycash gives you 5% discount above $20. I asked the waitress about it and she insisted it was above $50 and I must’ve read itwrong on the menu. I then showed her the picture I took which clearly says $20, then she said the menu is outdated and stillwill not honor it. I will live without the $2 discount, but it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Overall I would say foodtaste and value is 4 stars, but overall dining experience is only 2. I will not return until they straighten out staffing, if atall. Understand it’s difficult to reopen restaurants at this time, but I also think they need the honest reviews from theirpatrons to know what to improve. Read more
