Nothing this cool was in Fresno when I lived here in the mid 90s. Now the downtown Fulton “mall,”(called a mall because the street used to be shut down to traffic,) is trying to find its hipster heartbeat with spots likethis. We went on a perfect March Central Valley night and sat on the patio terrace. (They call it rooftop, but technicallyit’s not on the roof of this historic building. It’s on the 2nd floor.) The patio filled up for a Tuesday night. But ourserver was delightful & didn’t miss a beat with all the tables he was handling. We went knowing it was lite bites for food.But it was perfect for a happy hour dinner. Especially their delicious grilled cheese which came with a side salad. I want to love it but they've got some work to do. Service was good and friendly. It's a very cool spot. Food was just OK.... Biggest problem for me was the drinks. I asked if they had any signature whisky cocktails and was told the only whisky drinkthey could make was an old fashioned. That's pretty lame for a place that advertises as a craft cocktail bar...I expected a muchmore interesting cocktail menu. Nothing really special with Gin either. Ended up with an old fashioned and a gin lemon drop.Both were good but I could have had those at any other bar in town. I'll go back and hope for better drinks. Read more

It was good food, not great but good. The cheese platter had a nice selection, the quiche was fresh but, the eggs with the eggs... Benedict were pretty firm. We saw that a lot of people raved about the staff in other reviews but we had very very littleinteraction with staff. Since you order on the app, we only saw someone when our drinks and food were delivered. I do love theconcept though. Not any place like it in the Fresno region. Read more

I loved most everything, but the water. You have to serve filtered water in Freso if you respect your patrons! Get drinkable... water and earn the fifth star. If fast food places can do it, so can you! Alcoholic beverages demand hydration. The best bluecorn and chile verde tacos ever!! The perfect oil infused asparagus appetizer. The poki salad could use fresher fish (fresh fishis not dry and smelly). Beautiful outdoor roof experience on a beautiful windy day. Great service! Read more

Wow! The small, eclectic menu was fabulous and the menus for both the special drinks and regular drinks gave lots of creative... choices. I had the stone fruit old fashioned - maybe the best old fashioned I've ever had. Everyone enjoyed both their drink andfood selections immensely. Our waiter Paul, was as good as they come - personable, knowledgeable and had a great sense ofhumor. Don't be alarmed when they only send you to the 2nd floor of the building, for a "rooftop bar" experience. You'll see. We already had high expectations for this place, knowing the owners' passion and level of care... behind everything they do, but we were still blown away by how amazing everything was!! GET. THE. Went with my best friend. Had a nice time. Hipster vibes were awesome. Healthy food and drink choices. The assistant manager was... our waiter outside on the rooftop and he was the best! My cousin and I went to the bar and liked everything so much that we made reservations for the next night on the patio! The... restaurant is classy with a great vibe and the menu design for mystery drinks is a fun, unique option that I've never seenbefore. You MUST try the ancho dusted fruit dessert when you visit - it is so, so delicious, I'll be dreaming about it forweeks. The tacos were also amazing. While everything is great here, what really makes the Quail State shine are the staff.They're all wonderful, friendly, and warm, and they really make the restaurant stand out. The Quail State is a credit to theowners, who we had the pleasure of meeting last night as well. Try this place out asap!!
