Great beach lunch, had the Alabama getaway and 10/10 recommend! Great service from Savannah on top of the great food. They have... a guy that?s 6?5 serving too, pretty cool. I?m 6?4 and he?s taller than me and it made me nervous in front of my gf but I won?ttake off a star for that. Great food. Read more

An unexpected Treat We were on a well-deserved vacation on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It was an overcast morning and we... decided to take a road trip to Frisco and Buxton NC to see the Cape Hatteras Light House and to get an Apple Ugly at the OrangeBlossom. (I will tell you about some other time) Well, the Orange Blossom was closed as we got there too late. So, we took aleisurely trip from Buxton to Hatteras. After a nice drive we were all getting hungry and we spotted the Tavern on 12 located at53060 North Carolina Hwy 12, Frisco, NC 27936. This was not a hole in the wall like many eateries along this stretch ofhighway. The outside was in great shape and looked inviting. There was ample parking and we all went in, and a young ladyseated us next to a window Perfect. The place was clean, situated great, and had a full bar that was packed with locals as wellas tourists. I especially liked the décor that was both modern and old fashion as it took on the flavor of fishing. It wasnot loud as in some open concept restaurants. Our server Miss Brandi a beautiful young lady with a bubbly personality came overand with that southern twang took our drink orders. The draft beer selection was rather good, but I ordered an ice-cold PPR(what else in a highway-side Tavern on Hatteras Island in NC.) my wife ordered a vodka and tonic and my BBF ordered a localamber. Miss Brandi came out with our waters, and we were ready to order. My wife really wanted the fresh Tuna salad, and Iwanted the tuna tacos, but as luck would have it, there was no fresh tuna yet today. Apparently, the boats had not come in sofar today. RATS! I was devastated. What was I going to do? Back to the menu, I go. They had oysters Rockefeller, roastedoysters, burgers, pulled pork, shrimp Po-boy, mac-n-cheese, wings, hushpuppies, chicken tenders, and of course the tacos. Ispotted the Hatteras Clam Chowder, and I immediately knew I wanted to try this. I can say I am a clam chowder afi Read more

My husband & I discovered this great restaurant in May 2020 in the heart of the pandemic & have returned annually since then... with our most recent visit on May 27, 2022. We actually came here 3 times during our week at the beach! The food is excellent, pizzas are brick oven baked which I LOVE! The crab margarita pizza is my favorite. Last night I had the tuna tacos which weretop notch, cooked exactly as ordered. Two tacos are in a serving & they were full of tuna! They have draft beer with a largeselection of local beers. Servers & bartenders are personable. We make this a must stop place every year?highly recommend! Read more

We were really looking forward to eating some amazing local seafood here. The Tavern sits adjacent to Frisco Woods Campground... and the walk was easy and fun for a family stroll to dinner. However, our food was average quality and flavor was lackingpizzazz. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi. The sauce was watery and lacking garlic. The shrimp were medium and tough - overcookedI think. The side of butternut squash and brussel sprouts were mushy and lacking in flavor. Our grandson ordered a pizza. Whilegenerous in size and easily shared by two, it was overcooked as well, and the crust was burnt on the bottom. My husband had thefried shrimp dinner, but felt the flavor of the shrimp compared to that of any other diner. It's early in the season, and somaybe there's a few kinks to be worked out here. This place is awesome and worth checking out. The staff was very friendly - especially our server Kristin. She was great! The... menu is surprising, drinks were good and food perfect. We stayed at the Frisco Woods Campground right next door. Easy walkright to restaurant. The decor was very nice, comfortable and the outdoor seating is so nice. Definitely our new favorite whenin town. Read more
