I have been coming to Northwest Seafood for a long time and have continued to have a great experience and quality seafood. I... just wanted to highlight my most recent experience. I went to the Millhopper store yesterday evening. There were already acouple of customers in the store but everyone was being served and I was greeted and helped soon after I walked in the door.Everyone was just so pleasant. Wife got some "XL" shrimps today. I grew up eating seafood, and calling these XL is laughable. And just look at the color of... some of these shrimps - these have dark spots over all, and the head is all red. THESE ARE NOT FRESH. Fresh shrimps should belight grey and clear. I suppose these were left out for at least a couple of days. Not only that they won't taste good, eatingthese might make you sick. I am just disappointed - is this really the best seafood store Gainesville has to offer? Theirseafood is already overpriced, and now they can't even guarantee they are fresh. I hope this is a one time incident and they didnot know what they were doing. They really need to work harder on their management and get better suppliers. Otherwise morepeople will stop coming. Friendly and accommodating staff. Turnaround time for orders to be taken was fairly fast (about a 5 minute wait) despite about 6... other customers before us in line since there were several guys behind the counter. Customers and staff were all wearing masksbut the aisles are too narrow for customers to observe proper social distancing so my wife and stayed closer to the entranceuntil the people in front of us moved to the register. Each time we visit there's a different smell (it's a fresh seafood store,that's expected), and this time it was a lot better, less fishy more boiled seafood. First, I will say that the food was really good. This was my first time visiting this location. I went online and looked up my... order to get an idea of prices and the sides (I entered the order as if I was going to place an online order) Basically thatgave me the total and tax?it was the pick two with 3 sides.. when I arrived I placed my order, during the conversation thecashier ( who was pleasant ) never told me that I couldn?t changed my sides from the original coleslaw, fries and hushpuppies..I had already checked the online before coming, it lets you pick your 3 sides and charge you extra for the broccoli orokra. I received my order and discovered that I only had 2 sides?As I said, online it allowed me to pick fries, broccoli, andokra as my sides with 2 proteins total 21.39. It?s the same total the cashier gave me.. The cook who was on break (sitting onthe bench) overheard me ask for my 3rd side. She appeared confused, but she cooked the fries. She came back out and told thecashier, ? next time make sure you tell them?. She walked over handed me the fries, which should have been the end of theconversation but it wasn?t. I could tell she was a little frustrated but I kindly explained no one explained the policy of nosubstitutions even though you can do it online apparently. She placed a menu in my hand, and pointed at a random section andsaid and now you know. I believe she may have become frustrated because she was taking a break ( on the bench) and I came backin for clarification on whether I was supposed to receive 3 sides or not! I didn?t direct this question to her . I was speakingto the cashier. Basically it would have been easier to just tell me about your substitutions before she cooked the fries.
