The menu here is nothing like other sushi restaurant, it is different so it makes it a little hard to know what to expect but... once you order, the food is amazing! Fresh, tasty, delicious! Prices match the quality of the food... it's definitely not fastfood, there is a wait so don't come here if you're starving but if you wanna enjoy great Asian food this is a perfect place! Read more

Incredible in every way. Amazing looking plates. Brilliant service. We had 4 rounds of appetizers, entrees, dessert. Not only... was each dish amazing but they knew to serve us in courses rather than drop all the food at once. I have already written a glowing review on Yelp, and through my many visits here, I am more than happy to write another review... through Google! I was introduced to this restaurant by a close friend who's a regular, and he told me about how Sensei is hisfavorite restaurant here in Gainesville -- I knew I had to try it! First impressions: the staff is amazing. Every visit I hadhere I was greeted warmly and with a smile! It is always nice to be somewhere that I can feel welcome. We were always seatedright away, and I am in love with the ambiance and interior of the restaurant. The food can speak for itself. Every dish I'vetried (every time I come, I have to try something new!) has been amazing and deliciously juicy. I cannot choose a favorite, soI'll upload photos of my past dishes I've had! Unassuming from the outside, but the inside is very zen, and the food is INCREDIBLE. The service is impeccable - everyone was... extremely friendly and wanted to make sure every patron was happy. The sushi was perfect, the sea bass was divine, and the steakwas delicious! There are also several vegan options on the menu! Came in for my graduation dinner and I?m so glad my family found this gem. The food is phenomenal and the service is top notch.... Our waitress, Zoe, was very nice and attentive. We ordered the Miso Soup, Tom Yum Soup, Lobster Wontons, and the Coconut Shrimpfor appetizers and they delicious. Tom Yum Soup wasn?t the best but still very good. For entrees, we ordered the Roasted Duckand Egg, Miso Glazed Sea Bass, Ribeye Sashimi, Mongolian Steak (?), and the other kind of beef dish (forgot the name) and theywere all are sooooo frickin good and the presentation of the food is just so pretty. The presentation was lovely and the service was very good -- attentive and friendly. The ambiance is minimalist in that... elegantly Japanese style. I was underwhelmed by the sushi, though. I've had better tuna and salmon elsewhere, for sure. Thestar on the sushi boat was the eel, which had a very nice char on it and was really quite good. The gyoza was good but a bittoo sweet for my taste, but the fried tofu was excellent. The best thing I tried was the chicken katsu, which was absolutelyfantastic. I'd like to give Sensei three and a half stars, but that's not an option, so since the main course was a bitdisappointing, three stars. Read more
