This was my time trying Smashburger. I got it for takeout, but I still was impressed. I got the Bacon Smash Burger with truffle... mayo, and it was delicious, even though I?m not much of a burger person. The patty was cooked perfectly. Visited the location in Gainesville, VA on Saturday evening July 9, 2022 at about 8:20 p.m. A complete and utter mess! When we... arrived we noticed the tables were unclean, the staff work area was in disarray, and folks were standing around waiting fortheir order. So why didn?t we just leave? We had hope that the staff would get it together AND, my husband really wanted aSmashburger experience. Although we passed by at least three burger places on the way to Smashburger - we were hopeful thatthings would work out. So, we waited in line for about ten minutes. When we approached the register the cashier began tocomment that the wait would be an additional 30 minutes. She was no doubt overwhelmed. Her comment caused the person in front ofus to get out of line and leave the restaurant. We stayed the course. I did question the cashier as to the basis of her commentbecause it didn?t seem as if it was accurate. 30 more minutes? Since the person in front of us was now gone, we placed ourorder. Waited about 5-7 minutes and received the order. The burger was fine but the fries were cold to the touch! Incrediblegiven the amount of orders being processed. My husband, whose ?Smashburger experience? is now in jeopardy of being not so great,returned the fries. Unfortunately, the young lady who he gave the fries back to seemed annoyed. I guess he was just supposed toshut up, sit down and eat the cold fries. He returned to his seat and waited for fresh fries but they never came. He approachedthe annoyed young lady and inquired about the fries and ultimately called his own order for fries to the cook staff. It wasridiculous. We finally had a conversation with the manager/Austin. Austin apologized and provided the excuse that some on thestaff were new?how dreadful. We left the restaurant having had an awful experience. Arrived to the movie theater too early, and I had enough time to eat. If course I walked across the street and ordered something... to eat. This being my second time visiting this chain, I did know the food was good, based on my first visit. The food did notdisappoint, being petty good and served quickly (probably due to stopping in shortly after they opened). Brought my brother andsince had never eaten at the chain before, didn't take much more encouragement than my telling him I liked the food the lasttime I had visited, for him to give it a try. Great burgers, even better hot chicken tenders! Came for the burgers, which were great and fell in love with their scorching hot... chicken tenders. Can't wait to go back for more; simply mouth watering! Fries are crispy on the outside and soft on the insideand are delicious. Have yet to try some of their other side dishes. The food is good. I love Smash Burgers food. The service is getting worse and worse. When I walk up to the counter and the... cashier is somewhere else and for a few moments no one is behind the counter and there?s only a few people in the entire place,doesn?t speak and looks visibly unhappy it?s really hard to choose to pay 15 dollars for a burger and when you have a negativeencounter with the staff the prompt for a ?tip? at the end of the order is just weird. First time trying Smashburger. When you walk into a Burger joint at 11:30 am and it's empty that should be a warning. The staff... here is pretty lackadaisical and apathetic. The burgers and fries were just OK, nothing special. Way overpriced for what it is.Between the overpriced menu and lackluster service I can understand why this place was empty. Management at this Smashburgerhave seem to forgotten that the Restaurant business is a service industry. Employees shouldn't be staring at their phones orstanding around BSing.
