Yesterday, I went to Gemelli's Italian got the first time. It was a Friday and in the middle of lunch hour, but I wanted to see... how the place operated. Gemelli's is a market specialized in Italian and Italian American products. The first thing I saw as Ientered was that it was very busy, which is always a good sign. To my right there were cold cases with deserts, Italian importedcheeses (and some American brands like Auriccio), as well as imported and American-made cold cuts like prosciutto di Parma, capiccola, salamis, etc. On the wall hung a huge menu with hot and cold Italian style sandwiches and salads. To my left, a minimart, with a wall-to-wall selection of both imported and American made Italian products like olives, olive oil, canned tomatoes, dry pastas, candies, etc. There were wine displays with bottles of Italian reds, whites and prosseccos. Behind me, cold caseswith fresh made pastas and frozen Italian soups and main dishes. I was impressed with the variety of products, but found theprices a little steep, since (with the exception of the wines, which all were Italian), many of the products were not super highend national brands or Italian imports. It was lunch time, so I wanted to try one of their sandwiches (one of my fondestmemories of my years living in New York City was to go to the Italian markets on Carmine Street and surroundings and get aparmigiana sandwich on crusty bread), so I went for the parmigiana di melanzane (eggplant parmigiana). Unfortunately, thesandwich did not live up to my expectations: the eggplant inside was mushy, somewhat bitter and did not seemed to be thetraditional eggplant "in pastella" (lightly breaded and fried) but more like roasted and chopped; the marinara sauce was almostnon-existent, and there was some cheese, which was not mozzarella, but provolone (which was fine). The bread was fresh andcrusty, and it was the most delicious part of the sandwich. I also chose a can Sicilian lemon beverage that tasted to Read more

Gemelli's is the first restaurant I've been to that sells pizza "50% baked" , which is a great idea for those who are picking up... an order but are looking for that fresh, right out of the oven pizza! They provide instructions on temp and time to bake theremaining 50%. Their hot and cold subs are amazing. Highly recommend the Italiano! Gemelli's also has a small market insidewith cheese, pizza dough, meats, sauces, pasta, and more. Read more

Authentic, delicious & fresh! Loved this market. My mom & I shared the Italian sub, meatballs, gelato & Tiramisu. I can't wait... to go back with a small cooler to stock up on some delicious cheeses! Also want to try some of the wines. This was the bestTiramisu I've ever had! I also purchased the frozen chicken marsala to make for dinner at home. So good! Read more

Oh man. This place is amazing. The fresh pasta selection is awesome. And great. And the prepared frozen homemade foods are even... better. We did the spinach and cheese lasagna and it was amazing. The pizza is great as well. Better than specialitypizzerias. And add the cookies and chocolates available, this place is a must go. Read more

Somehow I had forgotten that Gemelli's was even here despite living a block away and coming to this shopping center multiple... times a week. I'm glad I felt the urge and let myself get one of their pizzas. As soon as I walked in, the smell of Italianflavors and sauces had me. Before I got to the deli counter to order, I was lured to the non-perishable items like pastas, olives, and the truffles. I got a bag of their amaretti truffles and they were worth the price. There was a selection of winebut I didn't get into it since it makes me cry. Finally, I made it to the pizza counter and got the La Dolce Vita pizza seen inmy photograph. It has Mozzarella, sweet peppers, store-made sausage, and fresh basil. The best part was that it wasn'toverwhelmed by any of the toppings. There was just enough to taste all of it as a composition of flavor. I will be going back. Read more

We came back for the second time. This time we got the Italiano on a soft roll. It was an okay Italian sub. The pizza was one of... the worst pizzas that I've ever had. Read more
