This is an old favorite for Indian vegetarian foodies that used to be based out of the Silver Spring area. The shopping complex... they were located in was repurposed and they closed down. For a while they tried being a delivery only restaurant with nophysical location, but that did not work out well. Last week they opened up in Gaithersburg, much to the delight of theirprevious patrons. We went to check them out and thankfully were not disappointed at all. The restaurant is tastefully decoratedwith a collage of traditional Indian silk sarees (which appeared to be Kacheepuram style to my inexperienced eyes). As soon aswe entered we were greeted and seated in a matter of minutes though the restaurant was almost full. There seemed to be noallocated waiters to tables so we simply flagged down someone (who actually turned out to be the manager). He graciously tookour order and gave it a waiter. The dishes started arriving within a few minutes. We are somewhat of connoisseurs of SouthIndian food (which is the specialty of this restaurant) and were not disappointed. The dosa, uttapam, vada we?re all tastefullymade in genuine South Indian style. I was a bit surprised to see that they charged $2 for sambar refills (they are typicallyfree). But the quantities were ample and the food tasty. We asked one of the waiters to modify a dish (make it without onion andgarlic) for us. Despite the crowd and busy cooks he agreed and turned the dish around within 10 mins. All in all we were quitesatisfied and happy with the experience. Update (November 20, 2022) Went there for a very late dinner (just 15 minutes beforetheir closing time). The waiters greeted us with a smile and brushed aside our apology for showing up late. There was only oneother table occupied and they left almost as soon as we came in. So we were the only patrons in the restaurant, by now pasttheir closing time and we had a leisurely, customized dinner with absolutely no pressure from waiters who wer Read more

Woodlands is one of the Best South Indian restaurant around DMV. It?s my go to place for a delicious South Indian meal. It... always reminds me of home food. They have the best of best food menu and few of my favorites to mention - Idli Vada, CholeBatura, Gobi 65, Vegetarian cutlet and North/ South Indian Thali?s. My kids enjoy coming here and most of items on the menu arekid friendly. My son never forgets to get some lassi and Kulfi for dessert. I never end my meal without ordering my favoriteFalooda. All in all this restaurant has everything you need especially if your visiting with family. The ambiance, Service andfood 10/10!!! Read more

100 percent Vegetarian Restaurant in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Authentic Indian Mumbai style food. The restaurant is in Business... for more than 25 years now. Their menu has a large selection of dishes, South, North Indian dishes. The owner personallysupervises and Customer service is excellent. I have known the Restaurant manager for 20 years. Food quality is fresh andexcellant. The service is quick. I went with my family and we enjoyed tasty Bhelpuri, North Indian specialty's and different icecream, especially the Rose one. There is ample parking. I recommend this restaurant. Read more

Dang people why yall rate this place so low, tisk tisk tisk! It's a southern Indian restaurant, so they're pros at the dosa,... idli, and utapa. The payasam, paper dosa, palak chat, dahi vada, chole bhature, and thali were also bomb. I've eaten there about6 times now and they're 1 of my new favorite Indian restaurants. One week, I ended up eating there twice. I always try somethingnew and they never disappoint...well.. Only thing I did not like is the gajar halva...it tasted like it came out of a box fromthe freezer section of Patel Brothers. Read more
