Reviews for Le Pied de Cochon in Gatineau, QC
This used to be a decent restaurant years ago but everything about it now is faded. From the unoriginal menu to the sad décor.... The food is average at best and the service is inept. I would not recommend this place if you want an authentic French meal. Ithink it's on its last leg. Read more
I have to say that this was an outstanding experience. From the moment we walked into the restaurant, where we were greeted by... both waiters, to the last second in there, where we discussed the pictures of the pigs, we knew that not only were we at a finerestaurant but also that we were guests not just customers. I started with the mussels in a garlic and ginger sauce as myappetizer and then went on to veal medallions with linguine and a perfect beef and mushroom sauce. For desert, the waiterrecommended a meringue and ice cream cake that was out of this world. Wine recommendations were perfect and the background musicwas enjoyable and not overly loud. All in all this restaurant was truly enjoyable and well worth the trip. Read more
Loved the food, the waiter was friendly. They accommodated us and our time crunch. We made our show at the casino. Thank you.
Came here for dinner with my sister and her husband. We were all really happy and satisfied. Excellent food, top notch service,... reasonable price. Will go back. Read more
Tried this restaurant for the first time with a group of friends and was generally pleased with the cuisine options, the taste... of our food and how the atmosphere was calm and not crowded at all at the time we were there on the weekend( after 7pm) Ourwaitress was what kind of ruined it for a few of us that night. Not only was she rude to us, but did not seem to really know orbe able to give details about the differences between two similar meals with different sides ? And gave attitude to my friendwhen she asked for not burn toasts. I also ordered the duck confit salad. Emphasizing on the duck confit part to not even getANY duck in it! It was all the "mixed greens" for a high price. The title in the menu even said it was duck in salad but when Iinquired about this all she could say was that it was just called that. Umn ok....you didn't mention this before when I orderedthis?! Or was it a mix up of translation...Otherwise i would have picked something with meat substance. The rest of the mealswere small portioned,(took a long time to get to our table though...) but with lots of good french cuisine flavour...(but Iwouldn't use the same kind of fries as mcdonalds use as a suggestion for a side... ) The table we were using was seriouslywobbly! Almost spilled my drink over just putting my elbows on it! And the general decor of the place could use an upgrade, uncomfy chairs and teeny tiny bathroom stalls! Read more
A ton of fun, so much foie gras and memorable for the local or tourist. Giant Quebecois flavours. Be sure to eat light... beforehand, maybe an hour run or bike to build a matching appetite for the portions. Read more
PSA: absolutely revolting. Ordered the rabbit as an appetizer, it was literally cold spam with a half centimetre layer of fat... surrounding it. The mussels are in chicken soup broth with onions thrown in for flavour. Main course, ordered the vealmedallions which were so raw that they were cold and still tasted like the inside of a refrigerator, and came with noodles withno sauce or seasoning topped with raw grated celery. Also ordered the rack of lamb, it was raw, and looked like they flattenedit with a mallet, with a thick crust of soggy breadcrumbs because it was drenched in melted garlic butter. Came with mashedpotatoes that was plated and stuck under a heater lamp for enough time that the outside was crusted over. There was alsocompletely uncooked frozen vegetables alongside. Skipped dessert. This place should be shut down. Read more
The food is definitely good and refined. However if you?re expecting to find any pork in the menu, be informed: there is none.... I?ve been to Au Pied de Cochon in Paris and Montreal, and based on this restaurant?s name I thought the menu would serve avariety of pork dishes, but? it doesn?t. Read more
