Been enjoying this great place since it was called Mel's Diner back in the day. I love their breakfast burrito with Chorizo! The... staff is always super friendly and attentive. If you haven't been here yet I'd highly recommend checking it out. Read more

Nice small dinner for locals, but we're very kind to us as tourists. Loved having a breakfast burger on the menu for mornings... after a long fun filled night. Get there early on weekends as it filled up quick. There is outside seating, weather permitting. Read more

In my humble opinion and breakfast being my favorite meal. Hands down best breakfast stop in the fox Valley. It is a little... small and older but adds to the charm and the staff makes you feel welcome and appreciated Read more

State Street Diner is a small diner style restaurant with great food. The long time staff knows your name and you feel right at... home. The food is very good and served quickly. The kitchen is open and you can watch as your food is being prepared. Read more

Very good food. Excellent service. Had a great experience. Prices are very reasonable. Only reason I did not give 5 stars is... the menu selection is average. I will definitely be back. Read more

Everything a diner should be! We sat at the counter and the special for the day looked amazing, but I opted for ham, bacon,... cheese and hash browns stuffed into a perfectly formed omlet that folded over the filling like a Food Network plated photo! Theomlet was topped with cheese and CHILE! Really good slow cooked chili, I might add! I asked for a side of sour cream... Goodpancakes, too. Beautiful mural artwork abound! See pics.. It was a little "diner-ee" behind the counter .. not much space forthings and stuff everywhere, but they cooked and served like a well oiled machine cranking out orders for eat in and to go! We got here at 9:00am on a Sunday and had to wait about 20 minutes before we were seated (they are very busy on weekends, so it... would be best to visit on weekdays), but the staff worked very fast to get us a table! Our server was very nice and helped usfeel comfortable. It was a long wait before we got the food - about an hour - but we were a party of seven people. However, thefood justified the wait time! Everything was high-praise worthy and we especially enjoyed the Reuben Sandwich, and the Spinachand Mushroom with Cheese Omlette! The food was very savory and tasted fresh; we were especially amazed when the french fries andhashbrowns weren't greasy, but still absolutely delicious! The only criticism was the coffee, which tasted watered down. Thataside, we left absolutely satisfied with our breakfast! This would be an excellent pick for breakfast or brunch on the beautifulState Street! Read more
