The quality of the food and service have rapidly declined over the last year, and the prices have gone up. It's not in any way a... pleasant experience to visit the establishment, the staff seem miserable. Lacking consistency, the same exact order tastesdifferent everytime I order it as of late. It was always pretty far from "NY street cart or halal", but it had its own uniqueattempt with lots of variety that was really good the when it first opened. Seems those days are long gone. Order elsewherewould be my suggestion, this place has passed it's peak. Read more

I would probably consider this a sub par halal food restaurant compared to other halal restaurants on the island. Their white... sauce taste like mayonnaise and their brown rice is nowhere near as good as many of their competitors. EDIT: When I originallywrote this comment, the owner said that it was "not halal" yet was serving "street cart style food" ????. The ingredients itselfare probably not halal but as a business why are you selling food which is served ingredient by ingredient by halal restaurants? Also why did you label yourself as halal on Google and Door Dash? NY Chicken & Rice was a great addition to the community. The food was decent, and the price was good. Operative word being was.... The quality has gone downhill, but the price hasn't (it has gone up nearly 30%). At first, I thought it was just one order withan issue (I found long strands of hair in my food), so I continued to order hoping to never have another issue. But, I soonfound out that it was not a fluke experience, Every order since this order has had issues. The biggest reoccurring issue is theportion size. I have noticed that if I order two of the same orders, they give me one portion size split across the twocontainers (of course charging me for both orders though). This has happened on EVERY single order since the first issue. Theyhave lost our business, along with the business of all the other students at my college. I suggest you look elsewhere, hugedisappointment. Read more

Must see places to find in this neighborhood. I am addicted to this and I wish they offered membership. They have the best taste... of lamb in town and chicken too. Read more

Used to go here all the time for amazing food - went back for the first time in a very long time (over a year) and was... disappointed. I ordered street cart chicken, but got lamb which I don't eat, and ordered street cart white sauce, but gottzaziki or something... Every one of my friends all had at least 1 thing wrong with their orders, as well. The place wasfreezing cold, and smelled like -ahem- "skunk". When I got home and saw my food orders all messed up, I realized why it smelledlike that. I might go back sometime just to see if this was a fluke, but I definitely wish it had made a better impression onmy friends, who were trying the place out for the very first time. Read more

Had to edit my review from 5 stars as quality has changed here. The past 3 times I?ve ordered from here they?ve managed to screw... my order up but yesterday was the worst. I ordered chicken with 2 sauces on top with extra pita as a topping I had to pay moreout of my pocket for. I pick the order up and once I get home I realize they didn?t put ANY SAUCE on top of my order, I call andthey tell me to come up and pick up the sauce. I get there, pick up the sauce, return home to realize THEY FORGOT MY EXTRA PITA.I call and I get the owner on the phone I believe who refunded my order and is the only reason I?m not leaving 1 stars but don?tthink I?ll be ordering from here as it defeats the purpose of ordering food from somewhere if by the time they finally correctmy order it?s freezing cold. Chicken here always tastes rubbery except for the fried chicken bites every time I eat here I getsick to my stomach. Read more

This place serves typical NYC street cart style food. The food is prepared per order however so it tastes much fresher then... what you would receive at a street cart. Some of the toppings they have are seasonal and can be really good. I won't say thefood is anything more than just good. Some things to consider is that the eat-in area is rather small and is either usuallyfreezing cold or really hot. You can't grab your own utensils or drink and are serve to you. My biggest gripe with this place isthat they do not Chop any of the vegetables they serve you in your food. Cucumbers and tomatoes which are common sides for thefood they serve are usually cut in half portions and are huge and require you to cut them up further. The best place about thispart in my opinion is a variety of unique sauces that they create and serve. The Suge Knight sauce is my favorite. The menuitself is limited, that with the mention gripes is why I give this place 3 stars. If they put some attention into the eat andarea as well as worked on some of their food presentation it could easily be a 4-star place. Read more

Great variety and options for meals. Friendly staff and clean restaurant. Costs a little more than other halal chicken and rice... places, but it's worth it. Read more
