The... house baked bread is INCREDIBLE, almost like the most moist Sourdough you've ever had but better. The brussel sprouts werecrisped to perfection with so much sweet and juicy bacon. The wagyu was BEYOND anything you could dream that melts in yourmouth. The wild boar pasta had such interesting flavors and fresh ingredients while still being a cozy satiating bowl of pasta.We also got the polenta olive oil cake to go and ate it for breakfast the next day-- divine. The star is well earned at Glen Ellen Star. Farm to table is a well worn concept, but there are places that deserve the... recognition for doing it superbly. My expectations were surpassed with dishes that cauterize the astonishing preparations ofhumble vegetables. Like the roasted carrots or the pea soup. I recommend you bend your travel plans to try to enjoy a meal atthe unassuming restaurant. Don’t let humble ingredients fool you. Deft balance and brilliant use of fire and char bring asatisfying meal that might just get you asking can you just have another dish of carrots. Read more
This road side restaurant missed the mark. The food tasted like that of a fast food chain restaurant. It was overly saucy for... the pasta and I couldn’t find nor taste the morels they had added to their dish. If you are a fan of mushrooms these are likechanterelles or lobsters true gems amongst the champignons. Sitting at the kitchen which is always a treat, to peak behind thecurt and see those perform and catch a glimpse of the magic of the art of cuisine was also lost. The kitchen seemed to lacklustre failing to sing as a group. I recognize we all have bad days though the show must go on. This was a recommendation andwe were truly disappointed in the art of food. This place ROCKS. Holy cow. One of the best dining experiences my wife and I have had in quite some time. Our server, Gregg,... was awesome—attentive, personable, fun, laid back. He set a fantastic tone from the moment we alked in. The incrediblytalented chefs in the kitchen made things even more enjoyable. It was really fun watching them work their magic throughout theevening. We started with the brussels sprouts and vegetable soup, both of which were divine. My wife and I love brusselssprouts, and found Glen Ellen Star’s preparation to be highly refreshing, as you get the same level of crispness without allof the oil from deep frying them. Amazing! The soup was to die for, as well. For our entrées, my wife had the lamb pasta and Ihad the specialty white pizza with shaved black truffle. Oh my goodness, words cannot describe how good these two entrées were.We polished off a reasonably priced Cabernet with everything, which took the entire dinner up yet another notch. And then wekept everything off with some of their homemade ice cream, which was terrific. 13/10 HIGHLY recommend this spot ???? Read more
Everything was outstanding. The best steak either of us has ever had. The sauces were perfection. We sat at the chefs counter... and were just in awe at everything happening before us. This is a must visit, you will not be disappointed. We will be back! Read more
