I love the homey feel this place has. I went with a party of four & we split two of the entrees & two of the appetizers. There... was plenty of food to go around. What a great spot to hang out in downtown Glendale. The German beer selection is great and they are huge, I'm talking Andre the... Giant sized beers! Sorry I didn't get any pics of the food ( my phone died ). But let me tell you it is amazing as well. We saton the patio ( which IS Dog friendly, huge plus!) and tried the Giant pretzel with cheese and mustard, the potato pancakes andthe sauerkraut balls. They are all delicious and very large portions. You definitely get the feel that you are at a place thatcares about bringing you a great meal, and a better experience. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. After the enormousbeers and apps we called it a night but we will definitely be back to try more of the authentic German food and I will make sureto get some pics next time. This food Could be so much Better and we really wanted to like it. The Bauernplatte for two had a great smoked pork chop. The... sauerkraut was extremely sour and tasted straight from the can. The red cabbage was seasoned as expected, the schnitzel was dryand the sausage and brat were predictable. The Beef Roulade was extremely disappointing with only 1 on the plate. (I hadordered Roulade 10 days ago in of all places Hawaii. My plate had 3 THREE beef rolls and gravy) The Sauerbraten was only 1 of 3servings the kitchen could offer that night and we arrived 4 minutes after they opened!! It may have been that the 3 servingswere left from the previous day because that was what it tasted like. The German potato salad was cooked potatoes withsauerkraut juice dumped into mashed potatoes to sort of hold together the cooked potatoes, bacon, caraway seeds and onions.There was no flavor of sugar/vinegar in this German potato salad. Save the caraway seeds for the kraut, don't put them in thepotatoes. None of the food was Hot in temperature when it arrived at our table. Authentic German spot that was featured on Triple D in Glendale. Came here as it was close to the Tanger Outlets for a late... lunch, and were seated immediately. Indoor/outdoor seating available. Credit cards accepted. Dog friendly patio. Bathroomsavailable inside along the hallway. There are vegetarian-friendly options. Free street parking available. The owner was supernice and welcoming. Food-wise, everything was top-notch. The portions were huge and the beer pours were similarly gigantic. Theydo have other alcohol options including wine and schnapps. The currywurst fries came separate from the ketchup/sausages, so theystayed crispy. The Hungarian sausage plate was my favorite - the sausages were thinner than the typical standard bratwurst, andcame with potatoes and sauerkraut on the side. The schnitzel plate had three different schnitzels with three different sauces(the white sauce was my favorite). The bauernplatte platter is meant for 2 people to share, but 3 people could comfortably shareit. My sister wanted me to note that the pork chop from this plate was the most tender pork she?s ever had, and that sheabsolutely adored the side potatoes. The mustard that came on the side was hearty and had a slight bite. As for the dessert, theGerman chocolate cheesecake was rich and decadent - it had coconut on the top and was good for 2-3 people to split. Read more
The food here is excellent. The environment fun. They get really busy on the weekends and that makes the service a little slow... but it has never been anything but friendly. Just plan to spend a little time if you are there on the weekend. The sauerkrautchocolate cake is phenomenal. This is my go-to place for German food. Read more
