What a wonderful experience. This hotel is a charming historic building and the staff is so friendly. We loved the hotel so... much we spent most of our time here. There are numerous places to sit and relax. My husband and daughter asked the front deskfor card games and they lent us a couple to sit and play together. I loved the Grand staircases and huge hallways. You justdon't see this kind of architecture anymore. We stayed in a room with a sitting area/ space which was so great for spendingtime together. This place was so great and I will definitely come back. We loved it. Read more

Recently, we spent four nights and days at Hotel Colorado, in Glenwood Springs, which we chose because of its historical... significance and because it is located within minutes of the Amtrak Station and also the world's largest hot thermal pool, andalso because it is locally owned and operated, and not owned by a "chain". Upon arriving at the Amtrak Station, we weregrateful to see the Hotel Colorado Shuttle Van waiting for us, especially as it had started to rain. During our stay, all ofthe staff, from the reception desk, to the bartenders at the beautiful outdoor bar to the housekeeping staff, were gracious andwelcoming. As we are interested in history and historical preservation, I had many questions, and the kind women at the frontdesk, Sydni and Danielle, gave to me a very informative print out of the history of this fine hotel. It was also explained,to what lengths the current owners have gone, to restore this hotel to its original glory, even finding hidden fireplaces andrestoring original wooden floors. What a treasure this hotel is! The ambience is wonderful, and we will treasure ourmemories of staying at this fine hotel, with its welcoming staff. Read more

Check-in was terrible. Someone cut us in line (the setup makes this very easy to do) and it took forever to get our keys. Then,... we lugged ALL of our stuff up to the fourth floor, three-year-old in tow, only for our keys to not work. I went all the way backdown and waited in line again for the person to tell me they mixed up our room number. We were actually on the third floor. So Iwent all the way back up to 4, got everybody, and we tried to ride the elevator with our luggage cart down to 3. This processtook 20+ min all on its own because the cleaning staff was also using the one and only elevator. This was all after a three-hourcar ride to get there. The room was extremely bare minimum with NO WINDOW COVERING except a flimsy and broken set of blinds thatdid nothing to block out light and had to be halfway up to accommodate the window A/C unit. When you have young children, youNEED to cut out morning light or they wake up at dawn. The lobby of this hotel is beautiful, but everything else was gross anddirty and extremely overpriced. We definitely don't recommend staying here till they get the renovations complete. Read more

If you're looking for a cool historic hotel to stay at, this is the place! Love all of the old style lobby areas and the... architecture is fantastic. For those looking for a slightly more modern experience, it looks like they're renovating the rooms. Personally, I'm glad I got to stay in one of the older rooms for the experience. Very convenient location, so you can justwalk anywhere you need to go, but they also have a shuttle. Read more

Hotel was very helpful and accommodating when our train was late. Very good restaurant though service was very slow. All staff... were helpful and accommodating particularly our driver Thomas. He definitely went above and beyond to help us get around. Lovedall the history and old fashioned atmosphere. Really enjoyable to just sit in the lobby or out by the fountain. Loved thewalking access to the tourist part of town. Read more

My wife and I had a great stay at the hotel. It?s staff is absolutely top notch, they are service minded to the highest degree.... The food was great, the room was nice, and enjoyed learning about the history of the place too. We had our wedding reception inthe Colorado room, it hosted 80 people comfortably. The food was great, and again top notch service. Thanks to Kristen ourcoordinator for all her quick service! Read more

What a beautiful gem, nestled in the peaks of the Rockies!! This old town has lots of history, much of which took place within... the walls of the Hotel Colorado. At one point, known as "the western White House", Teddy Roosevelt spent quite a bit of histime here. With pictures and stories or sculptures to cute your will learn lots about one of Americas greatest presidents. Italso happens to be the birth place of what we now know as "the teddy bear" and many other neat bits of history. The property isbeautiful with gorgeous flowers hanging from every awning; it's quite the spectacle. In the summer months the restaurant ishosted on the patio during the evenings and inside for breakfasts. The layout is spacious and reminiscent of an older time whencramming as many rooms as you can into a building wasn't a thing.. The only downside I can speak of is there is no refrigeratorin your room, so you can't bring perishables or keep a cold drink. If you're a history buff or just want to experience a regalold building, this is the place to go! The service was top notch our wait staff was phenomenal. We will be back for sure! Read more

You?re paying for the location, the food, the service, and the beautiful lobby. It is DEFINITELY an old building, so things like... AC and modern plumbing aren?t options. That?s fine. What you?re not paying for are quiet hours that aren?t enforced or respectedin an old hotel with no sound insulation, tattered curtains and sheets, and generally run down rooms. If you really want to stayin this historic building, maybe try it out after their renovation, which should be finished this summer. Read more
