It was a very warm Sunday. My husband and I had been at an outdoor event for a few hours. We left it feeling hot and hungry. ... We both wanted to try Oliver’s and were thrilled to see that it was open. We were greeted by a very friendly, knowledgeableperson named Caroline who also was our waitress. She too was wonderful. Both of us ordered from the specials of the day. Tostart we ordered drinks and an appetizer. Drinks were great The appetizer was Seafood Dumplings. It came with a wonderfuldipping sauce and was presented beautifully and delicious. Caroline gave us enough time to relax with our drinks before thedinners came. Our specials for the day were served. The Baked Haddock dinner came with mash potatoes and string beans. Myhusband loved it! He normally does not eat string beans, with this dinner he ate all of them saying how those were evendelicious. My dinner was Lobster Carbonara with fresh linguine, it was perfectly cooked and delicious. My husband and I were in Gloucester for a day and came here for lunch. The experience was fantastic. First the bartender( owners... daughter. Sorry I forgot your name) Was amazing. Very personable and engaging. Told us the history of her parents and runningthe restaurant. She also makes one of the BEST margaritas I have ever had but be careful they sneak up on you after a couple. Myhusband had the Cod loin with a cherry sauce and I had the tuna tartar. We came into town late and we’re looking for a nice restaurant to eat. Little did we know we’d stumble upon a gem! The food... was delicious and the bartender who waited on us was so nice and attentive. He really went above and beyond to make our dinnerthat much better! Make a point to stop here for a nice meal. Amazing place!!! Every single aspect of the experience was wonderful; since being greeted and seated, every interaction with... the servers and most of all, the exquisite food. Best fish in the north shore, hands down. Presentation, taste, texture, freshingredients, literally everything. Definitely a must for Gloucester locals and visitors. Also, this is a Portuguese-friendlyenvironment, since most employees are bilingual and have the unmatched Brazilian charisma. Singular experience. We'lldefinitely come back! Read more

This place had a table available on a Saturday night at 6, which made it a shoo-in for a hungry family, but it wasn't quite... everything it was obviously reaching for. The prices said "fancy downtown Gloucester" but the decor said "middle of the packfamily run". The food had definite ambitions of matching the fancy prices, and hit at solid, but not stellar. (Nicely cookedfish, though - not overdone.) The kids food was also comparatively pricey for what we got, but the biggest snafu was thetiming. Hungry kids are cranky diners, potentially spoiling the atmosphere for everyone, which is why we ordered as soon as theserver asked about drinks, and requested that the kids food come out with our appetizer - ASAP. It didn't. It didn't come outuntil almost ten minutes AFTER the adults' entrees - AND we got a very frosty tone from a server when we asked about it. It'ssliders and fries, folks. Literally the simplest thing you have on the menu. We were hardly the only family with kids there, soif they can't iron out those wrinkles, I can't imagine it getting the top-tier reputation it's clearly aiming for. Read more
