Discovered Barn8 during the pandemic when I'd often stop to eat and buy extra to take home. Discovered the Art Walk then, too,... and was eager this trip to test low-light capabilities of a new phone camera. And treat a friend to dinner. We told the hostessour Art Walk plans and she reserved a high top for our return. But she upgraded us to a delightful table in a "stall" with akitchen view. Loved it. Waitress Lindsey had all the knowledge and paid us just the right amount of attention. Food wasmouth-watering. Made a second meal from leftover glazed carrots and a nicely seasoned cauliflower side. It's a little pricey, but worth it to me to support local farmers. And don't miss the funky bathroom, a hallmark of Barn8's eccentric owner. Bok! Read more

A unique taste of the bluegrass. Seated back off the mainfare of east Louisville, KY, this little treat is positioned on a... horse farm surrounded by quite, green and ever so slightly sloping. The food was locally grown and fed, the meal was deliciousand the cocktails were creative and stout. As far as the seating is concerned you could take the traditional small or largetable setup or opt for a horse stall of your own with a half-round table suitable for about 6 or 7. There is a small gift shopas you enter in with horse farm, burbon and other Kentucky themed items. The only thing they missed that night was not havingan outdoor seeting area for enjoying that lovely sunsetting over the tiny pond out front. A magical night indeed. - Thank youfriends, Read more

What a wonderful place! The setting on a working thoroughbred farm was beautiful. Eat dinner, walk around, see the horses and... gardens. They grow a lot of the veggies/herbs/etc. right there at the farm. Food prepared perfectly with a small but wellcrafted menu. Cocktail menu had some unique offerings. Photos are the cucumber appetizer (amazing), trout (this was only halfthe serving since we split), and homemade shrimp pasta (also half serving; also amazing). Oh and we sat in a horse stall fordinner! Read more

Heading east on Highway 42 on an early Friday evening my wife and I made our way out to Hermitage Farm to check out Barn8 for... our first visit. The one-lane ride along the long entrance driveway points directly towards the old farmhouse overseeing thescenic landscape on the approach. The directional signs easily guide visitors to Barn8 located to the right and down to aparking area. The old barn converted to a restaurant is very tastefully decorated with white painted ceilings and beams and abourbon theme throughout including bourbon barrels stored in racks. Dining tables are lined up along the length of the gangwaywith smaller dining rooms off to the side in old stalls. Our table was situated in a room off to the side where it was a bitchilly on a cold winter's evening. Our server was very courteous and attentive and recommended that we start off with anappetizer of grilled carrots. They were surprisingly tasty and highly recommended. The menu is somewhat limited, but itfeatures a vegetarian and gluten-free option. Being a lover of fish and looking to conserve on calories we both opted for theRed Ruby Trout. It is an impressive size fillet with skin-on and is complimented with Borracho Beans (picture kidney beans), aMexican sauce - Guajillo Chile Rojo, Arugula, and Pickled Red Onions and fortunately for me with no cilantro. My wife, whoenjoys fish like me, found the skin-on feature somewhat displeasing to the eye. Disappointingly, the fish was rather bland andabsent of rich flavor. The combination of the beans and fish for me helped enrich the taste, but my wife was somewhat lessimpressed. Overall, the experience was a good one, and next time we will pick another selection on the menu. It's worth a tripout 42 for a dining excursion that is intended for more than just a tasty meal.
