Words can?t even describe how amazing this place is. We stayed at an Airbnb across town while passing through and was... recommended to stop here. The vibe is amazing, the products are fantastic, the food? UNBELIEVABLE. I got the duck jam burger andmy husband got the emu fan filet, we enjoyed it SO much we came back again for lunch before heading on the road and got thebanh-mi and my husband got the scallop tacos. The beer selection is astounding, organic dry foods available, fresh produce,sweet bakery, and brews on tap. If you stumble across this review and have never been, whether 10 minutes away, 2 hours or 4states away, make sure you add this to your bucket list! We?ll be back! ???? Read more

This awesome, genuine store is quite the best! They have a great selection of local beers, from Lagers, to IPA's, to Gosé. I... haven't tried their food yet, but customers were ordering left and right! It's definitely a spot to check out for those who arelocal to the area, or exploring around the area like me and my fiancé were. The staff here were totally awesome and definitelyfriendly. The process of the store is slightly confusing to those unfamiliar. Very friendly staff on both of my visits, but don't expect... to grab a quick burger. Wait times were just over an hour when I stopped. A loaf of sourdough and a pack of ham were my choicesto get back on the river before dark. I was surprised to learn that a charter school is on the other side of the building. I'mgoing to hit it again and see if I pick up the flow of the store, but I was told that my first experience was par for thecourse. Cool TINY town that has a lot of character. I consider myself a native North Carolinian, and I learned new things aboutthe state on my weekend paddle. I think the Duck Jam Burger was the name of the recommendation I received, that'll probably comeon the next paddle. The burger sounded delicious, but the ham sammiches got me through after spending the day in a kayak. Thecoffee was good and got me going the next morning. It got dark quick, the sound of rocks / rapids ahead pushed us to stop forthe night. I was told that the store is pretty much the town. There was a TINY hydro plant that looked to be part of the town,and I guess they have kayak/canoe rentals too. Stop into Saxapahaw if you get the chance. This is a must add to your day trips in search of good food! This little general store that calls itself "the only 5 star... General store" is definitely worthy of 5 stars. It's like a mini whole foods market with local produce, an impressive amount ofbeer to choose from and last but not least the food with outdoor seating area! This little piece of heaven is delightful and offers the best burgers and beers. After kayaking two plus hours on the Haw River,... we needed food. Luckily Saxapahaw General Store was nearby and opened. Pulling into the parking lot, we saw majority of theoutdoor seating occupied which is always a good sign. Walking in, we were treated to a quaint country store offering homemadegoodies and fresh vegetables. It was bustling with shoppers, bikers, and day travelers all wanting some delicious food. As weperused the menu, we noticed the entire back wall were refrigerators containing local beers. While our orders of burgers andhome fries were prepared, we explored the store but mostly the alcohol section. We mentally picked out what we wanted then founda table to wait for our food. When the burgers arrived they were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Served alongside were heapingportions of home fries fried to golden brown perfection. Had a very early breakfast this morning at 8:00 am. Everything was fantastic. I had the breakfast burrito with bacon. And my... friend had a veggie omelette. The store has a ton of unique finds as well as products from many local farmers. If you have nothad the Saxapahaw coffee, I recommend it highly! Read more

Day trip for the food: Shrimp and Grits and Succotash both were outstanding! They carry a large selection of unique sundries ... and we purchased our fair share ( love the Tee?s- Made from NC cotton ) . We then went to Cup 22 for coffee and desert. All inall a pleasant day. Read more

Went for unch after our kayaking trip. It was busy. My food took quite a while to be prepared. Many people that ordered after me... had their food before I did. Made it hard for our group to actually eat at the same time. The fish tacos were verygood.. Dangerous number of bees/yellow jackets around outdoor tables and where you place dirty dishes. It made foruncomfortable outdoor eating. I know some of that cannot be avoided but it would cut down on the number if the trash and dirtydishes were picked up and removed from the outdoor dining space more frequently and f there were fans.
