First time at Jungle Jim's and I must say...our waitress made the experience great. We both had the fish and chips....absolutely... delicious. Batter was crispy and light, fish was flakey and tasty. Coleslaw was really good as well. The gravy was a littlesalty for our taste.....but still good. The dining room was pretty busy when we were there....and apparently kitchen was a bitbehind. Not sure if it was just a bad night but from time order was taken until food on table was around a hour and 40 minutes worst... part was after waiting so long for food to come you expect it to atleast be warm but it was greasy and cold. The food was ok. The service was slow. 40 minutes to recieve food once ordered. The staff were friendly enough. The food was... expensive for the quality of food. For those from other parts of the country there are scrunchions which comes along with thepan fried cod. They are salt pork pieces fried and rendered down as shown on the photo. It looks like a bowl of fat and greasewhich is used to put on your cod fillet for flavour. It was served on the side so the amount poured on could be controlled. This would be the closest to a local restaurant "chain" in Newfoundland, I think. The day that we stopped in, a tour bus had... just dropped off its passengers, with no advance notice! The staff were quick and efficient in dealing with this, plus all therest of us! They have a special on the menu where you can pick any 2 entrees of 5 in the special. Waitress was excellent. Disappointed because two of the menu items we ordered were not available...how could there not be fish... in Newfoundland? The meals we did have were both quite tasty, we left satisfied. Read more

Had a quick lunch today. Very fast efficient service today. Food was served under 20 minutes & was delicious.
The restaurant closes at 9 but when I show up 7:40 , they said they were not accepting any more dine-in?s neither takeouts.... Weird! Read more
