Want a good pizza in Grand Rapids?!?! I had to hit this place up while in town. Parking was no issue. Upon entering we got... seated immediately. Drink orders placed (if you ask to try a beer they will allow you a sample). We placed our food order andhad to wait about 20/25 minutes for it to come up. My pizza was a Detroitor. It was a nice thick crust square pizza. Thebuttery thick crust with a nice snap was delicious. The cheese was not greasy and had great flavor. The same with the tomatosauce that had thick tomatoes incorporated. It was very tasty. The pizza was not greasy at all. I honestly loved it. I wasthinking to myself this place is really great. Is it a 5 star pizza joint? Then it happened. Ronnie James Dio came on theoverhead radio system with Rainbow "Man on the Silver Mountain" yep..it's official. 5 stars! Best export from Detroit since the Ford Mustang & Chevy Corvettes. Who knew Detroit style Pizza could be so good. And, Pizza is... not the only good thing. The salads rock. My daughter loved the Greek salad with the gluten free dressing. I had the burger thatwas one of the best I have ever had. It was cooked exactly like I ordered and melted in my mouth. Will be back. Super impressed. I stopped in based on the clean and new appearance outside- didn’t know anything about the place. I had the... Spicy Italian Pizza, and it was very good. Their tomato sauce is made in-house and is incredibly tasty. The waitress was veryattentive and kept my stocked with Coke, which was the perfect pairing for the pizza. Went to dine in and the pizza and appetizers were good but took awhile. When I went to order out my pizza it came with zero... cheese. I didn't know cheese was an additional topping ???? cheese is a basic just like the sauce so now I have barely saucedbread. My husband and I ate here for the first time yesterday for a late lunch. The lunch rush was gone which was no big deal. We ate... at the bar as we usually do. I am familiar with the Buddy's in the Detroit area and have always loved their pizza! The buddiesin Grand Rapids did not disappoint. It's just as I remembered (maybe better, because it's been a LONG time)! I love the factthat local Detroit brews and spirits are offered as well. We had great service and everybody was very nice. This was our first time here. We came about a half hour before close on Christmas Eve and were still treated warmly. Mindy, our... server was awesome! So the pizza........ it was very delicious! The crust was crispy around the edges and full of cheese andsauces in the middle, the pepperoni tasted fresh. It wasn't all dough like the other Detroit style "deep dish" pizza places.This is definitely on our favorites list!!!! Read more
I'm in the area from several states away and needed something within walking distance of my hotel. A quick Maps search and... Buddy's popped up in an area riddled with national chains. I much prefer the local scene. Walked in and was quickly greeted andseated. The waiter was over in a hurry and I ordered a local IPA. He was back within minutes with my ice cold beer and to takemy order. The garlic bread was good. The bread itself was amazing and at that point, I became real excited about the pizza. TheIPA was beautiful and tasty. I ordered the Detroiter. I knew at first bite, I was in love. The cheese was stretchy, the crustwas thick but crispy, sauce was perfectly seasoned and chunky. The pizza was not greasy or overly salty. It may have beenperfect. I don't know when I'll be back in the state of Michigan but if I ever do, I'm coming back to Buddy's. Read more
