I entered The Meanwhile on a cold and crisp November night and quickly found the warmth of a Ramones albumin. With graffiti... bathrooms, red and black colours and enough leather jackets to cover the walls, the Meanwhile fit it's description toperfection. The beer list was large and quality and the staff were kind. I recommend The Meanwhile to any angsty college studentin Western Michigan. Read more
Fun artsy atmosphere with cheap drinks and really great drink specials until midnight. We stopped by twice when we were visiting... since it was such a laid back spot. The bartenders were friendly and helpful. Read more
Had immediate seating. Bartender was swift on the serving. No complaints! I would consider this place to be more like a dive bar... kind of place. Had some pretty cool pinball tables in the back to have some fun with. In my opinion, a fun place to have ameet-up, stiff drink, and just an experience. Read more
Unfortunately the female bartender on Tuesday, June 28th 2022 was very rude. At 155am, we were told last call was being made. I... then watched the female bartender watch us not leave the bar, go to her male coworker, and convince him to intimidate us intoleaving. He said, and I quote "she wasn't kidding, we're closed now, it's time to leave." I love this bar and frequent hereoften, however I have encountered rude bar staff every time I have gone recently. It's convenient and open late, but I can alsogo to meijer and mix my own drinks without the headache. When I asked for the female bartenders name, she said Brittney, howeverI have a feeling she was lying. Don't waste your time, Grand Rapids has plenty of great bars!! Read more
Brenna was the quickest server I have ever had!!!!!!!!! But the bartender was not very nice. We were told ?no screaming? after... taking a shot together and that multiple tables left because of how loud we were (we asked the table next to us if we were tooloud and they laughed and said we were totally fine). Seems a tad unrealistic for a dive bar. Also, everyone at our table was aserver/bartender. We know how to behave ourselves in bars. Kind of a bummer because we were having a great time up until then.What a silly situation! Read more
Brenna was an excellent server! I was there on Thursday night with a table of servers and we ALL agreed it was the best service... we have ever had. She was quick, attentive, and beyond pleasant. GR needs more Brennas! Read more
So glad (and lucky) to have discovered this gem. Terrific drink selection. Friendly staff. Awesome vibe. Amamzing (quirky) Art!... All this for a seemingly inconspicuous dive. Pretty busy late night, young crowd. It's the perfect kind of weird. Would returnto Grand Rapids just to visit this bar again. Buy yourself a t-shirt!..
