I?m sad because I love krekels especially the Pawnee location but I was really disappointed this time. I got a double cheese... combo w pickles and cheese fries and a concrete. The concrete was delicious except I honestly think they gave me the smallrather than the large. The fries were brown over cooked, old, and saturated in oil. The burger had at least 10 pickle chips onit (I love pickles) but the bottom bun was just liquid and oily. The Pattie?s almost felt gritty and just not good and fresh.Plus the cheese wasn?t gooey or yummy I felt like there was barely any there and the burger was seriously gross I didn?t evenfinish it. The restaurant is very, very clean. The staff, efficient. The food was hot. This is a flash back to old road side dinners. Flat... top griddle to cook those crispy edged burgers. Simple menu. But good. I had the tenderloin it was great with all the fixings.And my friends got burgers. Nothing fancy , just good old American road side fast food. I'm going back to tried their custard. Good taste, but my burger was under cooked. It was, I guess, mushy and not fully cooked. So that is why I give just 3 stars.
What can I say, this is a great restaurant with amazing food. I ordered the breaded chicken sandwich and hot fudge brownie... treat. Sandwich was great and so was the fudge brownie. Chocolate shake was very tasty. Go for a small because their large iswell very large. I really suggest to try the banana split. It was so tasty. Next time I'm going try the floats. Read more
Review Date: September 27th, 2016 I have been to many ice cream shacks/burger and let me tell you? This may have been one of... the best burgers I have ever had. It easily places Top 5 for me. Maybe even Top 3! I grabbed a simple burger with the usualtoppings and it was amazing. They are thin patties a la Steak N Shake, but they taste 100x better. For $2 for a simple burger?you really can do no better. I grabbed a small strawberry ice cream and that was pretty great, too! But why not a perfect 5?Well, the cashier was great at taking the order, but the professionalism of the staff behind the counter was a bit immature.Maybe I am just getting old?. They also have quite a few Decatur locations, one in Pawnee, and one in Mt. Zion you can alsovisit, if you are never in Springfield, IL. Read more
