Heard from the grapevine this was the place to go, and boy, was I not disappointed! I sat down and enjoyed a drink after... ordering takeout, the friendly woman serving was more than hospitable and made me feel right at home despite me being out oftown for work and being out of my element. The food was great, hot, and even lasted the trip back to our place of lodging stillpiping hot. The chicken, by all means, is what most people would consider the holy grail of "Great Southern Granny" friedchicken, yet somehow avoided being greasy. Crispy, juicy, well seasoned, and tender as can be. Given the chance I willdefinitely be back. Read more

I dont know what kind of chicken you all like that gave this place a good review. I like my chicken not overcooked. This was... the smallest chicken I have ever seen. More like a Cornish Hen in size. Overcooked and very small. So dry there was hardlyany meat anyplace on any of the chicken. Green Beans sucked. They had to take them out of the can and heated them up. NOflavor no taste and the cole slaw had to come straight from the store. Mashed potatoes was lumpy so I am assuming that thiswas home made not unless they messed up on the dry flakes. Only thing that tasted good was the french fries. I made a specialtrip there from a article in News Break calling this the best fried chicken in Indiana. They got this article very wrong. Itwas the worse fried chicken in Indiana. i have had better chicken from Banquet frozen out of the box. Read more

???? Enochsburg (The Fireside Inn) will always be my favorite place for chicken. I have enjoyed this restaurant since I was a... little girl.(1970's) Nostalgic feeling every time I visit. Excellent service and always excellent chicken. Read more

Wife and I came here with some friends. Our first time but not theirs. When you first walk in you sign in and wait to be... seated. We ordered a variety of things from the menu which was simple and not crammed full which made deciding easy. The shrimpand breaded tenderloin where huge, fried pickles and corn nuggets where crisp, the chicken was juicy and the sweet tea was likeit was from the south. The whole experience was pleasant including the scenery to and from in this small town and the priceswere reasonable. Read more

Great fried chicken ???? Crunchy and we'll seasoned. Super friendly service. Great place for a family dinner. It's clean, but is... a little of a dive... probably because of its age and hasn't been updated. The rest of the food is severely under seasoned, including the onion rings, which were otherwise crunchy and not greasy. Probably one of the better, if not only, choices to goif you're at Lake Santee. Fried chicken was awesome and we also had the fried catfish. Both were great but I preferred the chicken. We had so much food... leftover that lunch will be good tomorrow. Our server was amazing and very attentive. Definitely will return. Read more
