We went to this restaurant in summer and loved it! I don’t know what happened since but this last time we went the food turned... out horrible. I was trying to figure out how it tasted so bland. I ordered the red pepper penne pasta and it did not have anygarlic, basil, or sun dried tomatoes as advertised - VERY over priced oily noodles is what I got. When the plate came out it wassuper duper hot and the cheese made all the noodles stuck together with 3 cups or so of oil at the bottom of the plate. I wasvery disappointed cause we traveled an hour away from home for our anniversary dinner and it was the most bland thing I’veever ate in my whole life. I don’t think we will ever be back. this is probably the first restaurant i remember coming to as a child - my dad loved this restaurant and would bring us here on... sundays for nice occasions! i LOVE sunset cafe.... used to be called emily's back in the day. anyhow, forgive my waxingnostalgic; the food here is real deal, authentic italian... the pizza has the cheese on the crust with toppings and sauce on topnext ! if you come to greensburg, visit the sunset cafe ? Have been eating here for years. Was our go to place for Italian. We recently had 7 in for a birthday celebration. I will... summarize our experience below, but if you don’t feel like reading - the food was not good at all. So the reservation processis modern and efficient. The restaurant was clean and well staffed. Our server was terrific and attentive. The menu is largewith plenty of choices. The food arrived in a timely manner and was all hot. Presentation and quantity was nice. So far so good.Our table ordered a pizza, Italian sausage and penne, shrimp, eggplant, linguine with clam, chicken Romano and fettuccineAlfredo. In total, 7 meals, not one person enjoyed the food flavor. The pizza sauce was just bad, can’t describe why, just nottasty at all. The fettuccine was borderline inedible, jarred sauce would have been an upgrade. The eggplant was flavorless, theshrimp over cooked, the clam sauce bland, the chicken was ok, and the sausage dish was way too oily. It is a shame. We orderedtake out here all through Covid because we enjoyed the place and wanted to try to help them survive. However, they have lost usat this point with 0 for 7. Read more

A true Mom-n-Pop Italian Restaurant! Usually, when I am presented with a generous portion in a restaurant, my radar goes up a... notch, thinking they are going quantity over quality. BUT NOT AT THE SUNSET! My party was presented with very generous portionsof Italian dishes that were lovingly prepared from scratch and that were SO good they made you wanna smack your momma. This istruly a gem of a restaurant that focuses on detail and on doing it right. Last evening we observed the owner totally strip a10-top and reset it herself because she wasn't happy with the presentation it made. That my friends is attention to detail! Andit carries over to the food. Prices are reasonable, wine list is complex and covers some unusual varietals. Great place to go,and often. I am not only happy to write this about Sunset Cafe’ but honestly I’m honored to write it. My experience is a bit different... than other reviews because I am writing about my wedding which was held at Sunset Cafe’ 2-19-2022. Sunset was more than happyto accommodate ceremony and reception, however it was a last minute wedding for us because not only is my husband fightingcancer but my brother who I desperately wanted to walk me down the aisle is also fighting cancer and has been getting very weakby the day due to his treatments. We explained all this to Angela the owner of Sunset and from that moment on she was AMAZING,she took every idea I had and made it even better. Because of Angela and her staff my entire wedding day from start to finishwas absolutely perfect!!! To say they went above and beyond for my wedding would truly be an understatement. Angela stayed upthe night before decorating and making sure everything was perfect for the next morning, they provided decorations that Ididn’t have, they turned the Cafe’ into a beautiful and magical place. The food was absolutely amazing, everyone whoattended including myself could tell that they put a lot of time, effort and love into every single part of our special day, youcan really tell when someone takes pride in their work and it was obvious to me how proud Angela is of her restaurant and heremployees. We have had a rough couple of years, our family has experienced a lot of losses, tough times and heartaches. Ourwedding day was the first day in so long that we can honestly say we was truly happy the entire day, it wouldn’t have beenpossible without Angela and her staff, and that is why I am writing this review, to let Angela know that she will neverunderstand how much everything she did meant to my husband and I also highly recommend Sunset Cafe’ for any type of event.Thank you so much for making beautiful memories for us Read more
