We attended a wedding reception here Fri night. The food (a Taco buffet) was quite good, simple but enjoyable. We used to love Winter Inn. We'd come here for a nice dinner and often bring friends or family but now it seems they are... catering to a raunchy dive bar crowd. The food was good although we didn't care for the nacho cheese on our super nachos. Theyused to serve it with melted shredded cheese, now the nacho cheese is gross. My walleye was great and my wife's deconstructedchicken cordon bleu was terrific. Service was also excellent. However, as we were enjoying our dinner they started blaring musicwith expletives during dinner hours and I couldn't hear myself think, much less hear my wife over everything. Apparently onweekends they have a DJ. Unfortunate for us we had also rented a room at the historic inn for the night. Even going to thesecond story didn't muffle the screaming from the bar downstairs and the bass of the music. Our bed rattled all night from thebusy lounge. We politely called around 12:00am when we couldn't get any sleep and were told by a polite young lady that shewould try to get them to turn it down but it likely wouldn't be much use. After another half hour of it we left. We definitelywon't be back. A restaurant we used to love and now it's just another shoddy bar. Read more
Used them for our wedding bar service. Probably about my biggest stress of my wedding. Extremely hard to get into contact in... every form. Wedding invoice was three weeks late so for a bit we weren?t sure if we would have alcohol ordered for our wedding.Bartenders were great on the day of but everything leading up to was a nightmare. I rented a room for two nights, Friday night and Saturday night. No where did the website indicates that there would be loud... music playing till 1:30 in the morning directly below my room. So loud that my bed vibrated from the base. When I complainedabout the volume they told me they were sorry but I would just have to deal with it. Their website should make it clear that ifyou're looking for a good nights sleep they are not the place to stay! Read more
We've been coming here for decades. Good food, great service and wonderful atmosphere. They have rooms available for private... parties, tables in the bar area, a dinning room and seats outside in the summer. A family favorite. Read more
The Winter Inn serviced our wedding and they did great! The bartenders were on top of things and even saved us (the bride and... groom) some glasses of our signature drinks as they got real low on them. The only issue we had was communicating with thecoordinator/manager at the office. It would sometimes takes weeks to get back to us and we didn?t always get a response withoutrepeatedly reaching out via email and phone calls. Read more
I can?t say enough cool things about this old hotel. If you enjoy being part of historical things this hotel is a must... experience. Everything that you could imagine about 1902 can be experienced as soon as you walk through the entrance. If youenjoy absorbing the past and want to step away from the ridiculousness of the now and future stay here for a moment. enjoydinner go to the pub have an old fashion or a Manhattan and then go up to the room enjoy the vibe and get some good shut-t eyewhere thousands have enjoy a good slumber before you.
