First time here and I'm really impressed. Very nice ambiance including open air dining and outdoor seating under a canopy. Gas... lamps, brick walls. Very attractive. More importantly, the food was great. We had Salmon and Mahi dishes topped with blue crab,with an appetizer of fried green tomatoes w/pimento cheese. Cocktails too. Everything was very good. We had a lovely time at Sassafras. Sat outside among the plants, Sally was a great server with personality, and the food was... delicious. I particularly enjoyed the she-crab soup and fried green tomatoes. While Sally waited on others, Mike (the manager)stopped to check on us, which felt like a nice touch. Really enjoyed this place! Service and outdoor dining were great! We ordered the pulled pork & collard eggrolls and they were so... good! I had the seafood trio which was pretty good... the scallops were cooked PERFECTLY! My only complaint is that the fishreally lacked seasoning. I ordered mine blackened so there was some flavor there but I had to add salt and a good bit of lemonjuice and I'm NEVER one to reach for the salt at a dinner table! My husband's salmon was also a little bland but like I saidnothing a little salt didn't fix. But other than that it was a great dinner and we will definitely be back! Read more

My Husband and I spent our Valentines date here last night, it was our first time ever coming here and WOW! I am so... impressed! We had: App: Pimento Cheese + homemade Potato Crisps 13/10 Dinner: Filet Mignon: 9/10 Salmon w/ Crab topping: 10/10(grilled) The owner came to every table to greet everyone and make sure they loved their dinners. My best friend and I came out here for dinner and everything was excellent. My friend was grateful they had a full gluten-free... menu & the chef even came out to make sure they had made her meal according to her food sensitivities. We loved the blue crabnachos and we both had the ribeye. Our steak was cooked to perfection and the sides were really good. I had the key lime pie fordessert and it also was yummy. We sat outside in the enclosed seating and even with it windy and rainy outside, it was very warmand cozy with the heaters. I’d love to come again & bring my husband for a date night soon! Read more
