The service was great - I ate at the bar and my bartender was very attentive and helpful. The food and drinks were nothing... special. I had fluke crudo and barbecue pork tacos - fluke pieces were cut inelegantly thick and there was nothing barbecueabout the pork - flavor profile was missing. Fig crisp was sweet to the point of being inedible. If you want high end Mexicancousine, go to Cosme in NYC. Monkey did not meet my expectations and I won’t be dining there again. Read more

Food was genuinely just okay. A nice-ish place to take your parents or friends who are not foodies and just want to try some... Mexican(ish) food. Service is quite lacking but understandable as they just opened. Drinks were bad. Decor is very nice butit’s quite loud so I didn’t enjoy the ambiance that much.\n\nFood: The four of us ordered almost 50% of the menu so I’dsay we got a good sample. Everything was pretty average except the garlic shrimp appetizer and the main dish arroz con pollo, which were very flavorful. The tacos were very average which was a letdown, since they seem to be a highlight on the menu. Here’s what we ordered:\n- Fritters (meh, skip)\n- fluke crudo (it’s okay)\n- garlic shrimp (good!)\n- mushroom with goatcheese (meh)\n- focaccia (good)\n- olives (okay)\n- heirloom tomato salad (could be great but overly spicy)\n- crispy fish tacos(meh, too much sour cabbage)\n- crispy pork tacos (meh)\n- shaved beef tacos (meh)\n- arroz con pollo (good!)\n- 3 dessertswhose names I forgot (decent!)\n\nDrinks: the cocktails are bad. We ordered 4 of them and they are very heavily alcoholic andthe flavor profile was not there. For this reason alone I wouldn’t return because what’s a nice Mexican meal without a goodmargarita?\n\nService: When we first sat down, no one brought us any water or menus for a long time… I knew right then thatservice would be bad for the evening. This was proven true later when it took them 40 minutes to bring out the second batch ofappetizers.\n\nAmbiance: very cute and trendy decor, but wayyy too loud. Read more

No idea what the negative reviews are about. This is a truly upscale Mexican restaurant. Very good deco and ambience, they even... have some sort of a scent all around the restaurant which makes for a pleasant experience. Severs are very attentive and calm, nobody is rushing you or encroaching. Bright experience with very refined tastes. What more could be asked. Oh and I don’tcome here to drink like those in other reviews, I’m here for the food and the experience. Read more

The concept is appealing, but the actual experience is lackluster.\n\nThe cucumber gin fizz was one dimensional and too heavy on... the cucumber; I didn\'t finish it. The fluke crudo was decent, the squash blossom quesadilla was good, and the smoked ham andmanchego fritters were quite delicious, although a very meager portion.\n\nThe shaved beef tacos were okay. The pork in thepork tacos was good, but the pineapple was off-putting. The arroz con pollo was disappointing - for a dish that advertised\"crackling skin\", there was none to be found, the rice was decently cooked but just tasted of stock, and the chicken was blandwith a texture closer to boiled than broiled.\n\nSlightly redeeming: The cocoa tres leches cake with bruleed bananas was quitetasty.\n\nAlso, the chairs outside or like torture devices, and the chairs inside are only slightly better.\n\nOverall, theyhave a long way to go to make this a place anyone would want to return to. It’s new and fresh. We had the strawberry escarole salad with the fish tacos and mushroom tacos. We struggle to see what we... would have next because we’re GF but our first experience was great. Read more

JGV’s first restaurant in Greenwich. Overall great dining experience and great service from start to finish! Important to note... that the entire experience is suggested as sharing plates and they do a good job in pacing dishes and giving you space and timeto enjoy each dish without feeling rushed out of your meal.
