We hosted a local college alumni event at the Southern Growl. They were so easy to work with and they were very accommodating!... Afterwards, we sat down and ate some supper and man their burger of the week was SO GOOD! I had the Plenty of Plush IPA and BuryMe in Strata IPA (#1 ranked IPA in South Carolina) and they were both phenomenal. Staff is super nice and the space is greattoo! Southern Growl was recommended by a local friend for us to try while visiting the area. AMAZING!! First, the service was... spectacular by Logan and Roxy. The beers were all good and we took several growlers back to our hotel. The food was original,delicious, and deservedly award winning. Just a FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! Beer was cold and the wings were hot, in both senses of the word. The Louisiana Buffalo wings are very good. Great flavor and... the perfect amount of heat. Their burgers are plenty to eat and have great flavor as well. Read more
Had a great time at The Southern Growl! No real table service, but folks will come around and clear glasses and trays after your... done. You can order inside for beer(glass) and food or outside for limited beer(plastic cup and snacks it seems. This is afamily friendly bar with lots of areas for folks to do there own thing. It was ok. Nothing really special. They need a better system of how to seat guests. A person assigned a table to us and while we... were away ordering our table was stolen by another party. We told the wait staff and they assigned us another table but didn?ttell the kitchen we were at a different table. Later, we had to inform them of that to make sure we were going to get our food.No one told us how to order or anything. They seemed to think we knew what to do. We were from out of town. We went for a nibble and a taste and found a great place to do this at The Southern Growl in Greer, SC. Staff is awesome. The... facility is still in construction, but the interior is very large from what we saw on a Friday night.. I loved my 'Czar of theSouth' Russian Imperial Stout. I recommend you check it out. In a nutshell: food is good, but not amazing. Prepare to spend roughly $15 per person for a family. The atmosphere and drink... selection make it more of a hang out joint for a group of adults... if they stayed open later it would probably be a good nightlife location. Burgers are cooked right and moist, but have mostly basic/typical flavors. The bun was a step above average andprobably my favorite part of the burger. The pickles were really good (I believe they said they were home made?) but overall itwas just average. The honey chicken sandwich came out absolutely dripping with melted sauce, there was a pool in the bottom ofthe container. The fries were swimming in it (not necessarily a bad thing). The hotdog meat to bun ratio was probably 1:3, mykid wouldn't even eat it until I removed half the bun. I thought rhe bun was good though, it was some kind of sliced breadrather then a traditional hotdog bun. The hot dog it's self was a basic hot dog. The fries look/taste home made. They couldstand to be a bit crispier but taste good - I really have no complaints about them. My only real gripe is the luke warm waterthat is self serve. I don't mind the self serve aspect but there should at least be an ice machine or the water should dispensecold/chilled. Read more
