Unfortunately our experience at this location was two thumbs down. Seating area wasn't clean. Trays, rice, and remnants of... other food were left on multiple tables and the floor. As far as the food, everyone's meat (chicken and pork) was extremelyovercooked and dry. There was no queso, which is no one's fault, but the extra moisture would have been appreciated. We ate andare thankful to have food in our bellies, but won't be returning to this location as it's the second time our experience hasn'tbeen worth the money. Read more
Do not waste your time or money at this location. I've been to this location multiple times over the last two years, and this is... what you can expect. Bad tortillas that are ripped and over-cooked, mediocre meat, burrito ingredients barely mixed (top isstraight rice, middle is all beans, bottom is all meat), horribly rolled burritos that occasionally unwrap before you starteating, and the notoriously slow service. It's no secret that this is the worst Pancheros location in Des Moines, and the poorquality for so long clearly shows a management/ownership issue. Take the extra couple of minutes and go to the location on 86thstreet. The food is perfect every time, and they are able to server a 10 person line faster than this location could server 3people. We went around lunch time on a Wednesday. It wasn?t busy when we got there and we were helped right away and our food was... correct. The food however is very mediocre. Not much flavoring, tastes watered down. My husband got a chicken burrito with mildsalsa, pico de gallo and sour cream and said he barely tasted any salsa and the main flavor of the whole burrito was sour cream.I got a carnitas salad the texture of the meat was good, but once again tasted watered down. The veggies had no flavor at alland my ?salad? hardly had any lettuce. I got queso and chips and the queso just tasted like cheap queso from the grocery store.Also there is no kids menu and a cheese quesadilla is almost $6 - which does not seem worth it for just cheese and a tortilla? Almost no customers at 6pm and with 5 staff members the service was still slow. Simpsons was on the tv and cranked loud and the... queso was runny and oddly grainy. The ingredients did not seem well prepared and my chicken quesadilla was nothing I'd expectfrom a great franchise. Do yourself a favor and just head to pancheros on 86th street, so much better. Place was dirty. When ordering food you can tell the food has been sitting a while and not made fresh. The Pancheros in Johnston... will always be superior. Worth the drive there. Read more
I always go here because it?s close to my apartment but if a girl with a black mask and glasses is making your food RUN she... messes it up everytime!! Burnt tortilla folded wrong and crumbling everywhere. I paid for a whole quesadilla not half and somechips? Read more
TERRIBLE service. Lazy employees! Had to ask the lady working to repeat everything she said be cause I couldn't hear/understand... what she was trying to mumble. They completely ignored my husband that was standing right next to me. Had to ask for then to mixmy burrito up more as they didn't even mix it up the first time. She then proceeded to wrap up my husband's taco without glovesand just flopped it closed. When he opened it up it was a complete mess. I?ve been going back rarely again and again for years now only to see if anything has changed . They are ALWAYS ?out? of... something when I go. Something just as simple as lettuce. They made my boyfriends burrito and busted it open while rolling itup. My boyfriend is a little shy and doesn?t want to inconvenience anyone so he didn?t say anything. My bowl was bare and notworth 8.95$ including all the multiple toppings I asked for hoping it would help fill it up. I should have known that thislocation was disappointing but I visit maybe once or twice a year to see if it would get any better but this was my last chance.It sucks because pancheros is so delicious!
