Went for lunch at 1:30. Waited a few minutes for service, no biggie. Ordered 2 ice teas. Tiny glasses with canned semi... carbonated ice tea like beverage, no biggie. Wife ordered a southern fried chicken Sandwich, and I ordered a burger, both withfries. Food came and fries were nearly raw and chicken was burnt looking and tasting. Decided to just split my burger and makethe best of it. Problem was, when I cut into the burger it was cold and raw in the very center. I informed the waitress we wouldjust be leaving, she was kind and understanding throughout. Will not be back. Read more
May 11, 2018. Tonight was our second time going to The Syndicate. First time was a few months ago on a weeknight and that time,... our experience was much better. Unfortunately, for tonight, it was exceedingly disappointing with the optics of possible racism.We did not have a reservation. We were prepared to wait and we understood that it was a busy night. We are a visible minority.An older white couple came in about 10 min after us. They said they did not have reservations. They were seated next to us atthe bar table while we were waiting. As the server brought them to the bar table to wait, she informed them there was anothertable for 2 ahead of them.....that would've been us. So we waited. The server then seated them first.....before us. I addressedthis with the server and she claimed they had reservations. I indicated to her that those customers told her they did not havereservations. I spoke to the assistant manager prior to leaving. She asked me to indicate which server, and I complied. Theserver then said the other customers gave a different name so they were not aware of the reservation and apparently theyclarified their name and had a reservation. The verasity of that claim is questioned as the other couple never left the bartable to clarify the name. There was no discussion of their reservation name prior to them being seated at their dining tableahead of us. I clarified with the assistant manager that those with no reservations would be seated on a first come first servebasis. The assistant manager offered a gift certificate. I declined as that was not the point. To the assistant manager, usethis as a teaching point for the server. Teaching point......don't lie to your customers. To the server, you were professionalup until that point where you lost my trust and respect. You appear to be young and hopefully, teachable. Be honest....even ifit is the harder thing to do. Went here as we recently moved into the area and reviews were good. I cant believe so many people think this is good food??! Had... the pizza and Caesar salad...neither of which was close to impressive. 3 out of our 4 choices for wine weren't available andthey had no Chardonnay or Cab-Merlot. Real shame as the building is nice, prime location and wine country is down the road...yetthe food is uninspiring, wine list basic at best. Sadly we wont be back. Staff seemed pretty good tho. They honestly have the best burger I have ever had. I tell our friends this who don't believe me until they try it. No one has... been disappointed. They also serve great craft beers on tap. The service has been exceptional. It is quaint and classy. Greatplace for lunch or dinner. Read more
