I have waited to come to Olio for a couple years because its about an hour from where I live, but yesterday was my anniversary... and we were celebrating in the area. I couldn't have asked for a better dining experience anywhere. A little unassuming on theoutside, but this place is SERIOUSLY special! As a lifelong fine dining server, I can tell you it is not easy to do what theyare doing over at Olio. There is not a single corner cut at this place- the pasta is made in house, even the burger buns aremade in house. I think during Covid, a lot of places had to condense menus and you often see a lot of menu options looking likedifferent iterations and assemblies of eachother. At Olio, I didnt see any of that, every ingredient was unique to a dish andthe level of care put into the food is something hard to come by these days in a post-covid dining experience. The food wasstellar. My seafood papardelle was huge, fresh, delicious and very fairly priced. My partner's plate was also delicious- thecheesy grits are to die for. Our server Kim was very welcoming and helpful. I do not drink and they had a really goodnon-alcoholic beverage offering that was exactly what I wanted. I literally cannot wait to make the drive out to Olio again.Thanks so much to the hardworking staff in that kitchen- all those extra hours and extra steps and small details come throughto the customer, and I will be a customer for life now. Happened to be in the Groton area and stopped for lunch at Olio. Very nice outdoor patio with shade, lovely helpful staff and... upscale, delicious appetizers. The calamari was light with great dipping sauces; the potato nachos were crunchy and flavorful.Highly recommend for an easygoing, enjoyable eatery. Read more
Excellent meal as always from Olio. Great menu options. Specials are always fresh and intriguing. Had the halibut special... with French potato salad and yellow pepper sauce. Fish was well seasoned and flavorful. Only complaint would be that it mayhave been just a touch overcooked and thus a bit dry....this is preferable to underdone though....potato salad was refreshing ona hot day and the yellow pepper sauce was a nice compliment to both... My wife had the salad pizza which she said was excellentand enough for lunch the next day. For dessert we had the banana and chocolate ravioli with malted milk ball icecream....thiswas outstanding and more than enough to share....could easily have served 4 with it. Our waitress Stella and the entire waitteam was attentive and courteous. We thank them for their work and efforts. As You walk or roll in, their are stairs down to tables, but if you go to the right, there are tables for handicap seating. I... also saw a sign for outdoor seating as well.. Arrived, seated, right away served water, and said our waiter would be right over.I waited a bit but asked for some menus while we waited. Eventually, a newbie waiter came over, but I was pleasantly surprisedhow catering and on top of things he was. For a newbie, I was impressed also was impressed because if he didn't know the answerto my question, he made sure he found the answer. We were served bread with dipping oil. My boyfriend said a million times howdelish the bread was, lol. Got our drinks. My boyfriend got a sea foam beer. Great tasting IPA. I ordered our meals. I got agrass fed burger, and my boyfriend got a special of prime rib. Our meals were fantastic. The only thing is no dipping sauce likeranch or honey mustard, but the chef was kind enough to whip me up some homemade honey mustard. The ambiance is really nice andsaw a waiter just making sure tables were organized and presentable. The hostess and our waiter came over many times to makesure we were satisfied. We then looked at the dessert to go. I got a seven layer carrot cake that was so yummy. ALSO FINALLY ACARROT CAKE WITH NO NUTS!! A total redo place, in my opinion If you want to come to a place that is on top of customer service,then this is the place. I came for an anniversary dinner. To celebrate my man's life. We had againa phenomenal waitress . Food catering because of my allergies was outstanding. We all had a phenomenal night. They even cameout with happy anniversary cake and just made my man so happy . Great food and amazingly large portions. We tried several different items and they were all delicious. It is a quite place with... great service. Make sure to try the Bang Bang Shrimp.
